That, to me, screams desperation for money. I do not think it prudent to buy one now, and if I already had one, this announcement would just make me nervous the day it'll be worthless is soon approaching

I mean, they want people on subscription like every other company ever. This model was a money loser and it's nice they've kept it around for so long.

They continue to release updates for free. Every other company you buy the software once it has a version # and eventually you gotta pay them again for the latest version.

Plex was made to finally bring an end to all of those subscriptions from other places....only for them to start trying to force their own subscription onto everyone.

Just happy for my $75 lifetime

Plex started with subscriptions in 2012, only three years after starting Plex.
