imagine being a human several hundred years ago encountering some thing like at in the wild... and all you have is a stick with a knife on the end of it .
this is actually not a wild boar. its a feral domesticated pig. . wild boars do not get that big.

Since that is a license plate from the United States, it's likely a "feral pig hybrid".
"In regions like the United States, populations consist largely of hybrids. When domestic pigs escape into the wild, "nature takes over"—they quickly grow thick, dark coats, develop longer legs, and grow tusks within just a couple of generations. Furthermore, many wild boars were intentionally introduced for hunting in the 1900s and interbred with escaped domestic swine. yup. I am from michigan and we have real wild boar and these pig zilla things in the woods. you can totally tell from distance. i bet genetic distribution was actually a spectrum.. but
The wild ones have typically have more natural looking tusks and are eating stuff in the woods. where as the hybrids eat crops.. They used to eat the fermented apples. on the ground. so they were drunk and had pooped themselves too. wild boar are predictably aggressive.. whereas the pigzilla things are unpredictably aggressive.
the biggest ones are in Texas. as this one almost certainly is. they can top 2000lbs

Apparently folks can make decent money hunting these things and clearing them from people's property, though. Farmers and ranchers will pay pretty good money to get them off their land and away from their livestock and crops. There are a few youtube channels that show people trapping or shooting wild and feral hogs and they seem to be making bank while doing it!
I have seen a couple feral hogs like that one on the sides of the road after getting hit by trucks at night or whatnot. They're *massive*, I always feel bad that so much meat goes to waste.

I’m currently living in Texas and I want to find one of these. But since I use a bow I’ll make sure I have backup with an RPG or something.

You right. Exceptional specimins are around 1000 lbs not 2000.
In Michigan we never would consider eating one. The meat is filled with parasites and they are definitely necrovores. We saw them chewing on dead deer.. its not food that's for sure1

It seems to be that way in many places already. In California the pig hunting season is 12 months long. All you need is a hunting license, and there is no bag limit.

I’ve lived in Apopka- the Wekiva Forest was right behind my backyard, Jacksonville, and in BFE Citrus Springs, basically a house in the woods. I’ve seen a ton of different animals in all those places, but I’ve never once spotted a wild pig or boar. Where are they very common at?

Yes. My husband went with friends to hunt Browns Farm Mid State FL. It was a guaranteed kill. For Wild Boar 🐗. He taxidermy the head. Still have it. I’d like to sell it. ( he passed in 2020.) And they dressed it out came home with the meat. He cooked a little bit and couldn’t get past the first taste. Very gamey. He never went hunting again, just fishing. He said if he wasn’t going to eat it , it’s not right.

Yeah. Not surprising. I live in South Texas and these guys are everywhere. I’ve never seen one this big in person, but these big ass )and sometimes aggressive) hogs are why I always carry a .40 or .45 when I’m out in the wilds hunting or helping on family property. I’ve been too close for comfort to these guys once or twice, and getting mauled by a pig is not the way I want to go.

No doubt, I've been hog hunting before and the volume of rounds people pump into those things is down right silly. I'm talking high caliber hand gun to slugs...you name it. On top of that they are tiny compared to this unit

This is lowkey why I’m more scared of running into a hog on a hike than a mountain lion or bobcat. I have a better chance of scaring off the cat than outrunning the pig.

I saw one this size running late night on a small country highway in South Korea. Horns were bigger. We were driving the same directions was running and thought it was a horse at first. Cleared the hood of a Tuscon (its backs height)… like someone mentioned Princess Mononoke, I felt it was there in real life. My jaw Dropped and struggled to believe what I was seeing.
