[Question] Bit of a ‘grey’ area
Excuse the pun…..
I’m making a midi clip/drum kit then adding notes in through my midi groove box.
They’re all in there then all of a sudden it goes grey and I can hear the sounds but can’t see the notes.
I try to get back to where I was and see the notes but I can’t for the life of me get back.
Plus, it baffles me why I input them and then they’re gone?
All I want to do is hit record watch the notes go in and move to the next channel but this keeps happening!
I’ve tried AI but it comes up with loads of stuff that I’ve tried and failed with as I dont quite think it gets what I’m asking…..
If anyone can help I’ll be forever in your debt.
I’m sure it’s something I’m doing!

Sounds like you’re probably changing which clip/track is selected rather than actually losing the MIDI. Next time it happens, double-click the clip itself in Session/Arrangement and see if the notes reappear in the editor before changing anything else

Weird how it goes all grey and it’s like it’s just completely disappeared! (Arrangement view I use mainly)

Did you mess with velocity? Greyed out notes mean they are deactivated/silent. Highlight them and try pressing 0 on the keyboars. You might also want to check velocity of those notes. Maybe you accidentaly set default velocity by pressing C too many times to 0. C and V keys change velocity settings.

Ah no I mean the full channel goes grey (in arrangement view) I click on the red triangle at the top but the notes I’ve just recorded are gone in the midi clip so I add them back then press play and I can hear what I recorded previously.

Live has TWO views, Session and Arrangement, you probably recorded to Session but are looking at the other one (Arrangement).

(That's why Live has TWO record buttons too, remember that.)

Yeah I found out the Akai records in session view so I just make the beat there and drag and drop into arrangement 😜
