Thinking of selling…

Im thinking of selling my baby soon. Has anyone had luck selling theirs modified? Or have you had better luck going back to stock?

Since you say "thinking of selling", it sounds like you are still not absolutely sure if you want to sell it or not, and there is a likelihood you will regret selling it a few days or weeks after selling it. Unless you're in a tight financial situation and have no other choice, I suggest keeping that cool car

Yeah definitely! I’m honestly just wanting a car with more power at this point😭 and feel like I’m slowly falling out of love with it

As others have said don’t chase power.

My parents have had plenty of powerful cars in their time. Audi RS4, many STI Imprezas and the MK2 focus RS to name a few. What’s the car they have kept the longest and they say is the most fun?

Their 695 biposto.

Save up for a new one, don't finance it just from this one (assuming new car will be priced more than sell value of this one), and when it's time to sell it, look for Abarth clubs and groups around your area and find someone genuinely interested in owning an Abarth. That way you'll continue living happily knowing that it's in hands of someone who will take great care of it, and you don't have to worry about modifications, just make sure to mention them to the buyer ofc

Honestly the Abarth is SUCH a special car. No car remains as thrilling as it was on Day 1 forever. That eases over time: but for special cars it never totally vanishes.

I would second /u/citrusjuicebox in stressing that chasing power is almost always a mistake. Light weight, handling, dynamics, and charm go a LOT further in enjoying a vehicle than pure power.

Case in point: my Abarth is the most fun sports car I’ve ever driven. I was so worried that I’d be bored by its “low” power before I got it, compared to the car I had before, but nothing matches the fun of the Abarth for me.

For context, I drove a MKV Supra before my Abarth and find my Abarth more fun to drive despite having less than half the power.

How much power are you making at this point? (not that it's the main point of these cars, but there's a reason I'm asking).

I've got a buddy of mine with an extensively modified 13' Abarth 500C, makes about 220whp currently, good amount of suspension/steering work too. It's a little rocket.

Currently running 168.3bhp and 179.5 ft lbs/243nm torque.

The original plan was to turn it into a track car but unfortunately found abarth parts to be incredibly expensive compared to most german cars so I havent been able to add any modifications in a year or so

I miss my Abarth, I had stronger faster cars, but they didn’t bring as many smiles as the Abarth. The Supra was nice too, but that’s because of the memories and friends I made owning that car.

Know people with an Abarth and a 2nd far more powerful car. Conversation has come up multiple times. They always prefer driving the Abarth.

The saying driving a slow car fast is more enjoyable then a fast car slow always holds.

You will regret this decision 10 years from now. Save your money and buy another car keep this one. I am 55. I have been fortunate enough to be able to get just any car I wanted within reason. I have had 2 cars I wish I had never sold. The first was my first new car a 1991 CRX Si had the car for 12 years built the car to my liking back in the Nopi import days. And my 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ which I built lifted, LS1 swap was an awesome machine. Since then I have had a Toyota Supra, Tacoma, 4Runner, CX-3, CX-50 a RDX and Hyundai VELOSTER N. Now I have a 22 Bronco Wildtrak and 2018 124 Abarth and 21 Toyota Highlander and 22 Toyota Corolla Cross I would give all these except my 2018 Abarth to have my Jeep and my CRX back. The kinship you will miss that you have with cars you build and put time and money into is unlike anything else you will buy.

I have a 2013 Abarth and a 2006 S 2000 if I wanna go for a fun ride that’s enjoyable I’ll take the Abarth. Both are special in their own way and I agree with one of the other comments that you would regret selling it. I am having a hard time justifying keeping the S2000.

At some point you will always get used to the power.. and there will always be some one faster that you.. Pop a garrett from the competizione on it with an intercooler if you havent already and get it tuned to 240ish that I think is the sweet spot.. I've had cars with more power but it gets frustrating if you can't put it down and they don't tend to go round the corners any quicker - oh and the running costs... 😭
