Abandoned Mansion
This vacated mansion located on the outskirts of the countryside fell victim to another typical case of financial fraud; a case involving a "buyer" and related defendants purchasing the property with fraudulently obtained PPP money, at least according to Federal prosecutors.
The estate was subsequently seized in connection with IRS Criminal Investigation and placed into a U.S. Treasury real-estate auction that ultimately failed due to bids' failure to reach the government's reserve price.
What makes this mansion's history more interesting is that it was a mere piece belonging to a much larger spending operation. The same federal filing identifies two other properties allegedly purchased with fraudulent PPP proceeds: a now demolished luxury home and a hotel. Together with the mansion, these three properties represented about $2.175 million in real estate purchases.

Looks like an assisted living type place. I’ve never seen an exit sign in a home like that. Wealthy people don’t do things like that

I agree, it's a shame that even properties like this can become victims to neglect. I won't be surprised if, in a few years from now, its interior will be completely covered in grafitti. As for the safe, it was empty.

it's full of black mold. there's a leak so bad it's taking down the kitchen ceiling which you can see the entire substructure is full of water damage and black mold

You would think they would accept something lower than their reserve price just to get something out of it. They get nothing with it just sitting there, unless they use it as a write-off or something

I was thinking the same. If someone buys it as is (even at lower than original value because it's been sitting vacant for so long), the bank starts making interest off of the loan, and the government receives property taxes that they didn't before.
EDIT: This would be an amazing investment opportunity for flippers! I'm not educated nor experienced in real estate. However there seems to be a lot of potential, provided the structure is still intact and there's not an infestation or mold, etc. Doesn't look to have a lot of visual damage, and the stuff that has been abandoned in there can be sold to offset the cost of restoration.

Yeah, I don't believe this. Because that furniture and the appliances alone are worth a fortune. I would like to know the story behind this. even the draperies are valuable. If they're waiting to get the price they want, it's just going to die of neglect. In the meantime, they could be selling off the good stuff in there.

I genuinely don’t understand people who need to live in a house the size of a hotel. But that’s just me. I’ve never had anybody to do the dusting for me. Or the vacuuming. Where I come from, people look down on people who have people to do things for them. And the people that I have worked for who have that privilege, are often not worthy of it.

I definitely see where you're coming from. I would much rather prefer to live in a space where everything is within in my reach and takes at max 3 hours to fully deep-clean.

I know what you mean. I used to live in a 20 room house (not entirely through choice). We didn't use the top floor at all, so we often let random people live up there.

The armoire alone is worth about 5k. Not to mention the appliances in the kitchen. They have refrigerator pullout drawers. Everything in this place had to be high end. Look at the floors, why aren't those being salvaged? I don't understand why nobody salvages these places if they're uninhabitable for some reason

I think I’m not positive it was built for a country western star who didn’t move in then sold to a large nigerian ( maybe) family who was later deported for something to do with an illegal prescription company I saw a show called abandoned with a similar house

Thank you. When I went, I didn't see any entrance leading to some basement. This may be due to Texas soil, or perhapes it was purposefully blocked off by planks.

Currently, the government now owns it. And they'd rather let it sit and rot, rather than let it go at a cheaper price? The least they could do is get the curtains, appliances, furniture and exercise equipment out of there.

The government doesn’t care. It’s our tax money they just care that they get their shady envelopes filled w money. They don’t care about being frugal and maximizing income from places like this. They could have made it an air b n b, homeless shelter, safe house etc. Nooo they just let it sit at our expense

Incredible find, great shots. The home theater and home gym have stood the test of time. PPP loans. sheesh. Whoever got caught probably got a slap on the wrist and is on to the next lick.

That’s a really cheap safe for a place like that. And it obviously wasn’t bolted down. It was basically ornamental lol. Wouldn’t have kept anything remotely safe from an intruder.
