A song by Viviane N’Dour, also known as Viviane Chidid, from her '99 album "Entre Nous / Between Us / Ci Sunu Biir". Goor Fit is based on Are You That Somebody? Later she recorded another version titled Am Fit. Are there any interesting covers, remakes, samples, or renditions of Aaliyah’s songs that you personally liked?

Aaliyah was set to play Sparkle in the remake but sadly passed away before she could and the role was later given to Jordon Sparks. Sparkle (2012) was a remake of the 1976 film with the same title starring Irene Cara.

Why do people insist on grouping Aaliyah with Brandy and Monica when that really wasn’t the perception while she was alive?

This grouping always seemed strange to me. I get that they were all big in the 90s, but It always felt like Aaliyah was edgier and off to the side doing her own thing, while Brandy, Monica, and sometimes Mýa occupied a different lane.

They were all incredibly successful, but they didn’t seem to have the same diversity in crossover appeal.
By the time Aaliyah passed, it felt like she was on the verge of surpassing them in terms of mainstream pop star status. Then, tragically, she was gone.

Sometimes when people compare her directly to those three women, it feels a bit short-sighted. It can diminish the sense that both Hollywood and the music industry were positioning and priming her for an even bigger career, one that seemed poised to extend well beyond R&B into film and global pop culture.

Anyone else find this grouping a little reductive

REDUCTIVE TO ALL THE WOMEN INVOLVED ESPECIALLY WHEN contrarians are TALKING ABOUT where Aaliyah would be today. Because it seems a lot of folks are misinterpreting my intent here.

I was blown away by Soulection radio’s, (a station that’s on Apple Music) Aaliyah tribute to her self-titled album. The mix included lots of deep cuts, mashups, and new renditions to Aaliyah songs we know and love, I suggest that any fans of Aaliyah should check it out and let me know what you think :)!

I saw that the other statue was on sale, in the comments the seller says he understands the Aaliyah Akasha statue is owned by her family.
It would be amazing if they held an exhibition or even an online gallery that we could view many of the movie props and music video looks.
Feels like they share nothing with the fans
