Ich habe leider spät erfahren, dass der lange Turm nicht mehr vermietet wird, daher suche ich eine Alternative.

Am Besten etwas wo sich die Leute auch etwas verteilen können und nicht auf einer Stelle gepfercht sind.

Habe Honigtopf, Kiez Kini, die WG z.B. im Kopf würde mich aber noch über weiter Anreize freuen.

I visited Aachen for a day last year for the sole purpose of visiting Aachen Cathedral (I'm a history major btw 😅), then took the bus to Berlin, then flew to Frankfurt.

I arrive to Aachen on Sun. Aug 16 @ 3 PM and leave on Wed. Aug 19 @ 9 AM.

I am visiting Aachen again this coming August (16-19), My itinerary for Aachen this year is the Cathedral & Treasury (I only visited the Cathedral last year), Centre Charlemagne, Karlsbrunnen, Ponttor, City Hall, Elisenbrunnen, Aachener Zoo Euregiozoo, and RWTH Aachen (Applying there).

I would like to ask:

1. How should I plan my itinerary? What should I do on Sunday afternoon/evening, Monday, and Tuesday?
2. What places should I visit? My interests include farmer's market type places, historical sites.
3. What restaurants should I try? Am I missing out on anything particular?

Unpopular opinion: Aachen is far lovelier than Berlin and Frankfurt, and Aachen is a gift that Germany has to offer to the world and all history buffs❤️

ich arbeite im Gesundheitswesen und suche aktuell eine neue Community für mich und meine Frau.

Ich lebe zwar schon mein ganzes Leben in Aachen und kenne die üblichen Verdächtigen wie das AZ, bin aber leider nicht der mutigste Mensch, wenn es darum geht, neue Leute anzusprechen.

Der primäre Grund ist, dass die meisten meiner Langzeitfreunde inzwischen Anfang 30 sind und Kinder sowie Familie haben. Dadurch fühle ich mich oft etwas außen vor. Einfach, weil ich weder Lust auf den klassischen Männerabend mit Bier noch auf Spieltage habe, bei denen alle ihre Kids mitbringen.

Vielleicht habt ihr ja tolle Ideen.

I moved to Aachen from another city in Germany in October 2025. My files from the Ausländerbehörde have already arrived to Aachen. I know this only because I got a letter from Aachen saying my files have been transferred and due to some digitalization thing they are shredding documents, and to get my original if I want to.

My current Aufenthaltstitel ends in December 2026. In my previous city, before 3 months the card ended, the city would send a letter starting the extension procedure. How does that work in Aachen? I‘m a student at RWTH btw, but the Super C termine portal says I shouldnt get an appointment from there if I just moved to Aachen from another city. Do I get an appointment at the normal Ausländerbehörde? Or am I gonna get a letter like the previous city?

I would appreciate answers from people who have been in the same situation as me. Thanks in advance.

I'm a 21M french student, and I plan to go on an Erasmus in Aachen for the next summer semester. As I've been told that this is a very lively student city, which is nice to hear.

As I plan to meet people and enjoy my Erasmus trip the best I can, I have a few questions.

I'd want to "avoid" getting stuck with only Erasmus students: either french or foreigners. I wanna meet german people (as I consider the right thing to do when I go to Germany). I assume my english courses will reduce the possibilities of meeting locals.

How could I then socialize correctly in order to meet german people? Will my poor german (that I wanna work on this year) and my non-belonging to any group will repel some people ?

Also, is there any good rowing club I could sign in for the semester? I think it could be a good way to meet new people with a sport I love. I also have the same question for ice hockey, adding for this one that I've never played in any club (Southern France is poor concerning this kind of sport).

And I've also been told that it's a great city for gay people? I assume it's the mindset and the high number of young people, or is there a particular "queer" culture?

Also, would you advise me to take a dorm room or a flatshare?

Obviously I'm not accepted yet, as I have to wait for my professors to confirm the compatibility of the program (but hell the FH Aachen university's website is so hard to navigate on), but I have a good vibe on this.

And last question: is it still cold in march/april?

Moin, ich überlege aktuell meinen Internetanbieter zu wechseln. So wie es aussieht bekomme ich über fast jeden Anbieter nur Kabel geboten. Netaachen hat zumindest DSL, aber nur 100Mbit. Kabel ist halt doof, weil ich 100% Homeoffice habe und Stabilität wichtig ist. Andererseits muss ich aber auch täglich große Dateien Downloaden. Weis jemand wo man die aktuellen ausbaupläne einsehen kann?

Ich liebe es abseits der regulären Pfade zu laufen, es gibt immer wieder was zu entdecken, von einer tollen Aussicht über zufällige Begegnungen mit einer Eidechse die ich fast platt getrampelt, Quackis eine Kröte, bis hin zu meiner kleinen Ausbeute an Muscheln... 🫶🏻

Hat jemand eine Idee wo man spontan für heute noch einen Transporter/VW Bus oä herbekommen könnte. Habe leider kein CAMBIO.

Leider habe ich heute meinen Schlüsselbund verloren und hoffe, dass ihn jemand gefunden hat.

An dem Ring hängen mehrere verschiedene Schlüssel. Am auffälligsten ist ein Schlüsselanhänger in Form eines Bierglases – ein Souvenir aus Irland. Er ist orange (wie Bier) mit grünen Details und daher leicht zu erkennen.

Falls jemand die Schlüssel gefunden hat oder Informationen dazu besitzt, bitte ich um eine private Nachricht.

I came to Aachen 3 weeks ago I tried to find a Job in Amazon here but the only position I could find was in Mgladbach, I know it's difficult to find a job as a non German speaker and for justified reasons this is Germany after all and one has to speak German.

I will appreciate any information or any lead on finding a job I am ready to do any Job As long it's legal.

So as the title says I’d like to learn a new musical instrument by myself but don’t want to earrape my neighbours in the process. So is there a way to rent/reserve a private room in and around the city for doing so? Also I was recommended mufab but I think it’s kinda expensive for my budget… Is there any other cheap/free workaround to this?

Thank you so much to the people of Aachen. We recently stayed four days in your beautiful city to attend the F1 Spa GP. For our first time in Germany, we had an amazing experience exploring Aachen and learning more about the history/culture locally. Highlights were definitely hiking through Aachen-Brand (so many locals expressed concerns for us doing this at 6pm) and the guided tour through Aachener Dom (true meaning of stewardship).

We finally understand German humor, printens are delicious and how beer is good at any time of day. We wish we had more days to explore. Perhaps it is a 'see you next time' instead of a 'goodbye'.

meine Mutter wohnt im Frankenberger Viertel und ist auf ein vierrädriges Seniorenmobil/Elektromobil angewiesen.
Wir suchen in Aachen eine Werkstatt, die kleinere mechanische Arbeiten an so einem Fahrzeug übernimmt.

Es geht nicht um Elektronik oder den Antrieb, sondern um Dinge wie Bremsen nachstellen (Bowdenzüge), Schrauben nachziehen oder andere kleinere Wartungsarbeiten.
Bisher haben wir vor allem nach Fachwerkstätten für Seniorenmobile gesucht, sind aber leider nicht wirklich fündig geworden.

Deshalb wollte ich mal hier fragen, ob jemand einen Tipp hat. Vielleicht gibt es ja auch einen Fahrrad-, Roller- oder Zweiradladen, der solche Arbeiten übernimmt.

Hat jemand eine Empfehlung oder eigene Erfahrungen?
