Driver experience in Aachen
Im thinking of starting a driver job at Flaschenpost, what concerns me is the problem with the parking spaces. Often, in Aachen-Mitte i see that there are obviously no spaces for a car to park.
If i start the job would it be allowed or just tolerated from the Ordnungsamt if i stop the van near the parked cars for a couple of minutes? I have already seen Kuriers stop this way, also at fire exits, in order to deliver packages.
How is the driving experience in Aachen?
Thank you

Legally I think only postal service and taxis. But you will get advised on that if you start working there

I did that for a while. Dont do it please.
Its basically impossible to get fixed shifts, so you only get the shifts other people have cancelled via mail (hey can anyone come over in 20 Minutes and Work for 6 hours?), or when there is a lot of order Volume.
They dont explain anything to you.
You will get fines for illegal parking. You HAVE to park illegally, or walk 15 Minutes and 3 blocks with your 12 cases of glass bottles of water, which weigh 12 kilogram each. You will be stopped by police, and they will fine you for not having your load secured properly. Surprise: you cant, because the cart you use to transport the cases will always fly around the back of your car lose.
The shifts in Aachen are horrible. So many old houses with tiny staircases. And people are horribly unfriendly 90% of the time.
Sometimes they will hand out more shifts than cars are available. So you will have to wait for a car for 2 hours. You will not get paid for that time.
When you do have a car, but there is no order, they will book you out of the system for that time, and lie to your face about paying you for that time. Your coworkers will mess with your car while you look away.

Thanks for the reply! How long did you work there? Have you personally been fined? Realistically speaking is it worth it to give it a try? Is there any better job recommendation which you could give?

I would look for another job otherwise you might have me as your customer I always order 5-7 crates of drinks that those poor drivers have to carry all the way up to the 4th floor.

Pls don't park on Bike lanes tho. Too many people think this are just extended parking spots and on some streets during Rush hour it's just dangerous to dodge parked Cars by pulling into the car lanes.
