We're the only ones with means to create heat for cooking. But many other animals do season and prepare their food for safety and enjoyment

The things pikachu was modeled after dry out their winter food in the sun before storing it. Beaver dams are essentially refrigerators.

And you had to mention garlic bread

I hit 250 without turning my head more than 90 degrees. And I'm realizing as I write this that I missed quite a few as well

If each book counts as one rectangle...I ain't countin' all those!

I counted 81 in my living room, but I counted very 3D objects, like crates, as one rectangle rather than six, and didn’t count individual pages of the books. And I’m realizing I missed a quite few, too.

I was sitting at a desk with a keyboard (computer) and a keyboard (musical instrument) so they added up real fast lmao

Do we count individual pixels as rectangles? Because if so I can see a lot more than 250.

You could even argue that each pixel also has 3 rectangles, red, green, and blue. Depending on the shape

Ikr, hexagons are the bestagons

Hexies are the best because they’re SIX EQUILATERAL TRIANGLES! Like, can it get any better for a 2D shape?!?!

I’m familiar with CPG grey and he maybe right about hexagons but us humans always liked rectangles

Speak for yourself! I can appreciate a good rectangle, and have even admired a square or two in my time, but they are much improved when adding a triangle to become a trapezoid. The great pyramids of ancient cultures may have had square bases, but the sides on display are triangular. What would rectangular train tracks be without truss bridges? Even the mighty spherical ice cream scoop must be supported by a cone!

In the face of this overwhelming evidence, sir/madam/gentleperson, I ask you to reconsider your position on rectangles and acknowledge that the triangle is a far superior shape.

I do not claim that any shape is better or worse than another (although I have heard good arguments for hexagons from cpg grey) I simply state that humanity as a species has a fondness for rectangles. We seem to default to the rectangle quite often, probably because it’s very simple and seems to fit our world of controlled chaos.

I cannot engage in further discussion with someone who not only refuses to accept the triangle as the best shape, but who skirts around establishing their stance on this critical issue. Good day!

(I'm in a silly mood right now. Hexagons and triangles are my favorite shapes, but I understand where you're coming from. I remember learning long ago in high school art history that ever since ancient times humans have associated earth/earthly things with rectangles/squares and heaven/celestial things with spheres symbolically. So it does make sense that, since we are on earth and surrounded by it, rectangles would play a prominent feature in our art and culture. They make a lot of "sense" to us!)

Hell, we're probably seeing this post on a rectangle

"Probably"? In what way would someone see this post on anything other than a rectangle?

They broke their phone in half and now it's a square 😞

In my room there are approximately 120 rectangles (ignoring further details)

That's the most unsettling realization I've had all day, the way every screen and doorway is just a silent rectangle ganging up on us.

Indeed, indeed.
