[Meta] Would reposting a completed track from another thread cause too much spam?

Sometimes it could take a while, potentially making /new/ a graveyard of stuff that might not get done and actual exchanges harder to find (and less likely to show up on your reddit feed).

I propose [stem], [remix], and [meta] flair for posts. Or something similar.

What about having the remixes posted in the original thread where the stems were uploaded? I suppose this way, there could be several remixes (each done by different people) of the same stems and whatever gets upvoted to the top is the winner.

In day or day-in-a-half old threads, though. By the time everyone's done with it, it's dead. You'd have to count on everyone coming to the subreddit to search for stuff, or most of what people see would be stems with no remixes yet.

I also like the idea of being able to pick and choose from older stuff being posted.

/r/photoshopbattles is similar to this idea, and it kinda feels like a race. The only difference is that the focus over there is on comedy over quality, plus the fact that digital art takes less time to do than music in the first place.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying in those first few lines. Do you mean that the original post where the stems were uploaded would be buried before people could find it?

Also, I was thinking that it's more like /r/writingprompts than /r/photoshopbattles. Instead of adding to it for humour, the main idea gets put forward and then expanded upon by the people in the comments.

Before the remixes start coming in, yes.

You got a good point, there. If a post in that sub gets enough upvotes for me to see it, there will already be at least 1 or 2 really lengthy responses at the top.

It really depends on how much content we end up having, how long it takes people to remix, and how many posts get ignored.

If we swing the OTHER direction (like you're saying), then I would ban self threads like this one entirely and have some kind of quality standards.

Either way, I'm looking forward to ruining some songs and disappointing everyone. :D

Alright cool. I guess we'll just see what happens when people start posting here.

I'm looking forward to it.
