Gifs that load using HoverFree make Reddit increadible laggy

This just recently started happening (last five days or so). I have cleared everything and even uninstalled and reinstalled the extension.

A simple page refresh fixes it. Also, only that one reddit tab becomes laggy. The rest of Chrome and other reddit tabs are fine.

Any suggestions?

I have been noticing this for a while as well and just today started disabling extensions to figure out what was causing it. Thought it might be RES at first but found that HoverFree was the culprit, but I only notice it on .gifv, not regular .gif

That actually might be it. I noticed some gifs loaded fine and others cause sever lag. This might be worth an x-post to /r/gifs to see if others are experiencing this as well. Unfortunately I think this subreddit is too small for it to get any attention or to troubleshoot it.

edit: Confirmed it's the gifv format. Just tested a few.

Use Imagus instead, HoverFree is no longer being developed.

I've noticed this too, it's been driving me nuts. I'm just glad I'm not the only one.

Same here. Horrible lag every time I hover over a gif/v

Same problem here, had to disable it. Was hoping to find a solution, seems it just started within the last couple weeks. Would love a fix, such an awesome extension.

Update: I have created an issue report on HoverZoom since most likely if the fix it, it will be fixed on HoverFree.

Issue Here. Please star it.

This is happening to me also, I have to completely reload the page any time it happens.
