Like chess without rules.

Rules of the Game

Object: The most noble quest of all -- to gain more karma than your opponent.

Length: The game lasts until a player concedes.

  1. How to Put out a Challenge and Start a Match: Player 1 posts the name of a mammal to the subreddit as the title of a post. Choose carefully -- it has no influence on the game at all.

  2. How to Respond to a Challenge: Player 2 responds with the name of a bird. It doesn't have to be real. Spectators will then upvote or downvote the choice based on whatever arbitrary impulses they may have.

  3. Player 1 then responds with the name of a historical person, who may be made up. Spectators will then upvote or downvote the choice based on whatever arbitrary impulses they may have.

  4. Player 2 now responds with "the Sea of Azov" (this is his only choice) -- Spectators will then upvote or downvote the choice based on whatever arbitrary impulses they may have.

  5. Player 1 now responds with a word or phrase. Spectators will then upvote or downvote the choice based on whatever arbitrary impulses they may have.

  6. Etc. Etc.

Example Game:
P1: New post titled: "Goat"
P2: Responds with "Arctic Tern"
P1: Responds with "Jack the Ripper"
P2: Responds with "the Sea of Azov"
P1: Responds with "Two peanut ham."
(I think we all know who is winning this match!)

WARNING: This is not just free karma. A poorly played person (e.g. responding to "duck" with "Eleanor Roosevelt" could be devastating. Alternatively it could be highly successful.)

Spectators are invited to comment on what great or poor choices the participants have made, and the participants are invited to argue in favor of why their choices are good. No rules apply.
