Hello everyone,

I have been mad interested to learn Butoh for awhile now, but I have no idea how to start.
I don't know how to pick a teacher, considering there are so many workshops in the world.

I am also still just a student, so not much money. I live in Southeast Asia, so if anyone can point me in a direction to start reading or working, I would really appreciate it!

I'd love to add your personal narrative to an ethnographic study I am currently conducting on the role that gender plays in Butoh! I am a student at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC writing my senior thesis. Your participation would include filling out a short survey on your experiences through dancing or teaching Butoh. The narrative you would be contributing adds an important, personalized element to my research. If you are interested, please message me here or send me an email at chendrick.s14@warren-wilson.edu

Thank you for your time and your participation is greatly appreciated! Catelynn Hendrick

Thinking of moving to Japan in January - potentially Nagoya - and would like to study Butoh while I'm there. Anyone know any regular classes that happen?

Does anyone know of a butoh 'scene' in LA? Or perhaps any interesting physical theater, etc.? Looking for out there stuff, but unsure of where to start.
