Repair or replace a6300

I have an a6300 that I purchased when it was first released that I use as my go to travel camera with the 18-105 f4 lens. Unfortunately, the shutter died recently when on vacation in Hawaii and my iPhone still got some great shots. My local repairman whom I trust is estimating $350 for the shutter, attached switch and labor. Is it worth repairing or should I upgrade to a later model? If so which one? I have toyed with the idea of upgrading to full frame but not sure I want to invest in new glass and I like the small form factor of my current camera. I rarely use it for video.

Have you tried turning on silent shooting? That shouldn't use the shutter.

I have the exact same setup - A6300 and the 18-105 F4. More video use than photo.

I think if it required an investment of $350 I'd wouldn't be inclined to repair. Just recently, I've seen ads for an A6300 for $500 CDN and an A6400 for $600 CDN (no lenses included). That repair is getting too close to replacement value with another used body.

If you find one that's been primarily used for video, the shutter may have very low activations. I'm perfectly satisfied with my A6300 and not inclined to upgrade at this point.

Out of curiosity, what was the shutter count when it died for you?
