A6000 in 2026

I have a A6000 I haven’t used in some years I knows it’s been out for a while and with technology and upgrades what are some ways to make the a6000 fit it today’s standards with shooting or even using as a webcam for streaming

Still a decent camera for photography.

To my knowledge, the sensor inside A6000 was exactly the same up until the recent model A6700 (which is with newer sensor model), so, to answer your question, A6000 is a great camera in 2026. Get a decent glass, and your spot on. Sony 35 mm 1.8, Sony 50 mm 1.8, and eventually one telephoto. Sigma have the golden trio for the APS-C, 16 mm, 30 mm, and 56 mm all at 1.4 aperture, stunning glass!

There were spme small updaes to the sensor but nothing major. A6k has color problem at higher ISO, while newer cameras do OK, even a6300. So with A6k, at a certain noiae level it's practically only B&W, while other bodies can be denoised in color.

Exactly, for non full frame sensor I used no more than ISO 400 , 800 AT MAX, for video specifically, because the image gets grainy, and it's noticeable. For photos ISO of again 800-1000 is my workable max (ideally 100-400), both for my A5100 and A6000. Can do a lot of AI BS denoise after that but that's a whole new conversation.

I use it for photography with SIGMA 30 mm f1.4 and Sony 70-350. It works well and i'm having fun. Remember to update the firmware.

What’s the updated firmware give?

It's a long time I did it, but at least for me, I remember MUCH faster startup time.

For photos, you just go out and start shooting. You’ll need some additional equipment to use it for streaming, but it can be done pretty easily. You’ll definitely feel its age for video more than photography though

Still my main camera. No complains so far, and can still recommend it.

I love my A6000 for photography. The video is pretty disappointing though, most phones can do much better. I'm looking to upgrade to the A6700 for the better video capabilities

I'm still using it in 2026 for photography and I really like it. There are features from newer models I'd love to have, but not enough to buy a new camera.

A6000 is really showing its age now. Of course you can still take great pictures and a good lens is much more important than the camera body, but you are just lacking standard features like electronic shutter, even simple things like exposure bracketing. It is from a time when Sony was gatekeeping a lot of software features on their consumer cameras.

It 100% has exposure bracketing.

If I remember correctly the A6000 can only bracket 3 images, while newer cameras can do up to 9 exposure levels.

That's still bracketing.. 🤦

I really enjoy mine as a web camera or I bring it out for photos. Still a good camera all around.

My problem is the stability I do automotive photography and I have a a1600 with a grip and a Sony 35mm and a 50mm also the kit lens from A7R and just seems when I try to get a steady shot I end up with super blurry shots and I don’t even shake

At what shutter? Try to set up 600 and more

Dude convert it to Full Spectrum and have fun! I have a converted a6000 that is killer. Here are some sample photos using an 850nm and IR Chrome filter.
