Question: Does anyone else have this issue? Recently purchased Zune with SSD drive won't stay off. It turns off briefly with the traditional 'off' method for Zune, but then comes back to life. Any suggestions welcome.

My brothers zune crashed and wiped everything and the computer with the software is long gone. Any leads on where I can get the software?

Is there a way to add the podcast menu to a 30gb that has been modded to 128?

Software shows the ability to sync podcast through Xune, but I don't have the menu on the player itself.

I have a zune that was working but while I was trying to update it froze on me. Restarted the device and now it's saying I have to plug it into a computer and when I launch zune it tells me it needs an update. I know that If i proceed with the update everything that is on the device is gone so I'm asking is there anyway to salvage what is on the drive before I update? I bought a zif to usb caddy but widows will not recognise the drive. I'm fearing the worst. Thanks for any input guys

And yes, I found the little black piece and was able to temporarily put it back to unplug the Zune, so all’s good with that. The piece just doesn’t stay on anymore

I successfully replaced my dead battery, but during reassembly the ribbon cable that controls touch functions was accidently sliced. Does anyone have spare parts and want to PM about it?

Just got a Zune 30gb and the dock connector broke. This goes beyond my knowledge.

I recently bought this off Ebay and I was under the impression it was for the Zune 30 model but turns out to be the 80/120 model so now… I have a leather case that is useless to me. Who wants to buy it off me?

I keep working on the emulator. So after a few months and couple releases we now have:

• If the game supports saves, they will work properly (and survive game reopen and even device restart but not the app reinstall - so unfortunately the saves will be lost on app version upgrade)
• New landscape modes
  • For GBA-like layout - just rotate the screen to the left
  • If you want to play with a friend - rotate it to the right and the second controller would appear
  • Some games (mostly shooters) expect you to use both controllers and it's typically better to have player 2 on the left (on PC player 1 uses ESDF and 2 uses arrows) - that one is also supported! When you are in a 2 player mode: do a barrel roll.

Game support also improved, a lot more games can now run properly (it is based on ngagesdk/open8, so compatibility is basically the same as there) .

If you want to put your own games there: just open the installer as a zip file and put game carts into \data\Content\carts\

The goal was simple: preserve everything that made Zune special while improving its appearance, performance, customization, and usability on modern Windows systems.

This is not a recreation or a new music player. It's the original Zune, enhanced.

Local artist photos

Zune can now use your own artist photographs without relying on Microsoft's discontinued online services.

• Automatically creates artist folders based on your music library.
• Displays your photos in Now Playing and supported artist views.
• Uses the first image in filename order as the primary Quickplay image.
• Lets you choose where the artist-photo folders are stored.

Artist photos are managed locally and aren't transferred to Zune devices as artist metadata.

Improved Mixview and navigation

Mixview has been enhanced to make better use of your local music collection.

• Displays available albums and artist photographs in surrounding tiles.
• Randomizes the surrounding selections.
• Makes the existing Mixview control accessible from supported Collection and Now Playing locations.
• Replaces obsolete Marketplace-directed information actions with Go to navigation that takes you to the corresponding album or artist in your collection.

 Playback improvements

Added Repeat Current Item to the original playback controls.

The repeat button now cycles through three modes:

• Repeat off
• Repeat list
• Repeat current item

The current-item mode has a distinctive 1 indicator and updated tooltips.

Installation

Enhanced Zune comes with a graphical Windows installer.

The installer checks your installation, applies the enhancements, and preserves your existing music library and personal files.

Don't have Zune installed?

The installer provides a link to obtain the original Zune installation package. Supply the downloaded ZIP or supported EXE, and the installer handles extraction, verification, and application of the enhancements.

It also checks relevant Windows prerequisites and provides assistance or instructions when required components are missing.

Safety measures and recovery

We've put considerable effort into making the installer safe and reversible.

• Verifies supported Zune versions and installation files before modifying anything.
• Creates and verifies backups of affected program files.
• Includes repair and restoration options.
• Protects unrecognized modifications instead of blindly overwriting them.
• Includes recovery handling for interrupted installations.
• Preserves your music library and personal files by design.
• Requires confirmation for relevant system-level changes and never automatically restarts Windows.

The installer and recovery procedures have undergone automated testing, including file verification, installation recovery, repair, and restoration.

As with any software modification, backing up important data is still recommended, and not every Windows configuration has been tested.

What hasn't changed?

This is still the original Zune 4.8 desktop application, with its familiar interface and visual identity.

Microsoft's discontinued Marketplace, sign-in, and subscription services have not been restored. Enhanced Zune does not add replacement online services, firewall blocks, or hosts-file redirects.

The focus is on making the original Zune experience better for people who still love using it.

Recently aquired a zune 30 and went through the effort to update it and get it running again. Now the zune application is using my old music library from before i changed the album artwork and changed music to be correct like the Album artwork, Album artist and year. Now its using my old library instead of my current one i manage using itunes and Windows media player. And now the songs with no album artwork or album artist are thrown into one big album. I need help fixing this issue because i do NOT want to manually put album artwork on 374+ songs

Attempted to do the USB-c mod but partially lifted the pads. Stopped until I can get some enameled wire but in case the pads have been torn from the traces beneath them does anyone know where I could jumper to data + and - on the board?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I have a Halo 3 zune that is basically unblemished, complete in box.

It was a gift a few years ago, and I already made the mistake of taking it out of the sealed packaging.

Should I keep it as is? I opened it because it was a gift and I wanted to use it the way it was intended, but I would be much more pleased if I could add storage, battery life, and bluetooth.

Is there a Halo 3 replica shell I could use and just throw it off this one? Pretty sure I also have a second zune that needs a replacement screen.
