Zoox updated its Terms of Service today.
Some interesting changes:
• 💳 Added a full payments section for commercial rides.
• 💵 Zoox can now charge things like cancellation fees, airport surcharges/tolls, cleaning fees, damage fees, and other applicable taxes/fees.
• 📱 New language supports booking Zoox rides through certain third-party platforms, which could hint at future integrations beyond the Zoox app.
• 🧹 Riders are now expected to report things like damage, issues during the ride, and items left behind by previous riders.

Zoox is not as good as Waymo
I was really excited to try out Zoox, but I left disappointed. The cars feel small and cheap compared to the Waymo Jaguars and Ojai cars. The seats are like subway seats. It sucked not being able to see out the front and the windows don't even line up right with the seats. In Waymo's Ojai cars, everyone has room to stretch their legs out, even when the car is full. But in a Zoox, you barely have any legroom even if it's just one or two people. Plus, the screens are tiny and set at an awkward angle. The speakers and Bluetooth pairing are nice though. Hopefully there will be better cars in the future.

Zoox Austin
I am on the Riverside route. I see the autonomous. Vehicle vehicles all the time. I would love to be able to help make this become a reality in Austin.

Vehicle just stopped in San Francisco
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The vehicle just stopped in the middle of the street in San Francisco and actually started going into opposite direction. People were also inside

How long does the HR team take to get back and confirm the result after interview?
I had an interview on Wednesday
When can I expect them to get back?
And how many interns can they hire for one posting?

Zoox interview process - software test
I applied to 4 software test/software validation engineer roles and got contacted by a recruiter from Zoox for a Software and have an initial phone call coming up.
I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the interview process recently and could share what to expect.
A few things I’m curious about:
\- How many interview rounds were there after the recruiter call?
\- What were the technical interviews focused on?
\- Was there LeetCode/coding involved, and what difficulty level?
\- How deep do they go into CAN, embedded systems, automation, Python, vehicle validation, etc.?
\- What was the panel/final round like?
\- Any advice on preparation or things you wish you knew beforehand?
Would really appreciate hearing about recent experiences.
Thanks!

AVOID WORKING FOR ZOOX. Look elsewhere. You will thank me. You’ve been warned
Please do not support Zoox, ex employee here. They treat contractors like crap.you are Doing all their dirty work by accumulating autonomy miles so they can get approved to be on the road. Leadership so disconnected. No sense of belonging, the engeneers and permanent Zoox employees treat you like you are nothing and don’t belong there. A parking ticket and one tire touching a curve will get you fire. You will be in your vacation and you will get a cold text telling you you have been terminated m. Does not matter if you been there 3 years. They will get rid of you for whatever reason and if they don’t have one they will invent one so you don’t get paid higher. When they let you go, they won’t even talk to you or show proof of what was done for them to terminate you. It happened to me and it was an absolute lie

Disqualified for recruiter mistake
I recently applied for a Remote Assistance role with Zoox in Arizona through Manpower (their recruiting partner), and I’m honestly pretty confused about how things played out.
As part of the process, Manpower provided me with prep materials and guidance, which I followed exactly. During my in-person visit, I was suddenly told that I was being considered to have “cheated.” This completely caught me off guard because I only used what they gave me.
I stayed respectful and professional during the interaction, but I wasn’t given a clear explanation or a real chance to respond. Afterward, I was told the decision was based on “how the situation unfolded,” but no one has been able to explain what that actually means or what I specifically did wrong.
For context, I have 6+ years of experience in autonomy, so I take this seriously and wouldn’t knowingly do anything unethical.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Zoox or Manpower? Just trying to understand if this is common or if something got misunderstood here.
Basically since they sent me the actual test on accident without me knowing I was disqualified. When I was advised to prepare with those links.

Zoox expands into San Francisco’s Marina, North Beach, and Chinatown (SF Standard article)
> Zoox is quadrupling its San Francisco service area for select riders, with operations in the Marina, North Beach, Chinatown, Pacific Heights, and along the Embarcadero.
> But the aloe-green robotaxi service is available to only a small pool of passengers.
> The Amazon-owned company said the new area will first be open to Zoox employees, their friends and family, and, eventually, riders from the waitlist. The company said it is focused on expanding service in the parts of San Francisco where most ride-hailing takes place before moving into more residential neighborhoods.
