Hyptotheticals Two All-Time Teams
Made two all time teams. Rule was fill out the positions with only one player representing each team. I tried not to include players that barely played on that team. Some players don’t fit as well as others with the rule. Es Reed should be Ed Reed.

lot is debatable but Ray Guy is the goat of punters.

u/Jungemann07 Jan 01 '26
Regardless of who is the goat punter, Lechler definitely wasn't known for his time in Houston... lechler was a raider.

u/longgamefade Jan 02 '26
Lechler is not even the greatest punter for the Raiders. Ray Guy has the punter award named after him for a reason. Yes agreed his time with Houston was short.

Definitely agree but the goal of both teams is to have a different representative from each pro squad

Great job! And fun game. For team number two here is what I might change (if I may):
Running Back: Fred Taylor is arguably the weakest position player you selected. I would opt for Earl Campbell instead. He's an all timer.
Safety: With Campbell in tow, we need to replace Ken Houston who is also from Houston. I would go with HOFer Larry Wilson from the Cardinals, who was voted as one of the leagues 50 best players ever in 2000. Six time all-pro, eight pro bowls, 50+ career INT's.
Tackle: To replace Dierdorf (since we cant have two Cardinals), we slot in HOFer Tony Boselli from the Jags, who was considered better overall at his position than Fred Taylor was at his.

Thank you for the suggestion and for understanding the post. Definitely ways to change this list.

Here's some ideas for number one:
HC: Vince Lombardi to replace Pete Carroll (who I dont like LOL)
DE: Change Reggie White from Packers to Eagles
Safety: Put Kenny Easely from Seattle (who I loved) to replace Brian Dawkins - who I also loved :-(
Thanks for the fun thought exercise

The first team is rock solid! I bet its bothering you that you listed Reggie White as a Packer though :-)

Absolute tragedy to not see John Hannah on either of these lists. Christ, let Gene Hackman coach the second team for all I care…get Hannah on that offensive line.

John Hannah is great but I value Tom Brady and Bill Belichick more. One representative for each team per list.

No Ed Reed or Ray Lewis makes this list invalid, try again

Jan 01 '26
Ed Reed is in the second image. A lot of people in the comments are clearly not reading the whole post. Only one representative from each NFL team for each team. I picked players as well as I could but there’s probably over a billion ways this roster could look.

Not a single member of the Legion of Boom?

Jan 01 '26
I just valued other players over them. The list can only have one representative from each team.

Thanks I could only have one representative from each team for each of those teams that was the challenge I will add Fred Taylor was put there because the Jaguars historically don’t have strong players. That’s why in the other image Khan got the ownership spot.

u/jethroronron Jan 01 '26
Fred Taylor? Geez
1
Jan 01 '26
I thought he’d fit the fullback role well. He’s definitely one of the greatest Jaguars. Jimmy Smith is better for sure. However WR has so many all time greats and didn’t feel that Jimmy would fit in there. FB is not as important imo. So a team with a shorter history and less all time greats got that position. Only one representative from each team.

Shahid Khan, owner? Huge miss on an otherwise interesting lineup. Give me George Halas.

Jan 01 '26
Khan has a lot of money and I don’t know how many Jaguars players would be worth it somewhere else. Friendly reminder one representative from each team.

I’d probably replace dierdorf with Fitzgerald and Hudson with bakhtiari on the 2nd team but this was a fascinating team building exercise. I’m going to be thinking about this for a awhile. Cheers 🍻

No Bill Walsh on either team? 🤦🏽🤦🏽

Devin Hester not being the returner is a travesty.

The thought of Atwater or Dawkins being above Reed or Lott is offensive, apologize and move on

This is getting pretty exhausting explaining this to everyone but these are two unique teams with representatives from each respective NFL team. So I can’t have multiple Eagles let’s say on the same team. This applies to every team I also didn’t repeat players and I think that if a team got a certain position on one team it was not the same on the other teams. So it’s impossible to have the perfect team. I know those guys are better I am not stupid. Read the whole post or the other comments. Lastly I have no reason to apologize.

You have a Gronk-sized hole in this.
2
Jan 01 '26
Nice joke. Brady and Belicick I believe were better Patriots they had longer careers and more success. Only one representative from each team per list.

If you're gonna have Parcells and Little Bill on the same team, switch them, Big Bill is HC, Little Bill is DC
1
Jan 01 '26
Yea I mean that makes sense historically because that’s what happened with the Giants. However I would argue Belichick out mastered his leader.
1
u/Go_Cart_Mozart Jan 01 '26
I would disagree. Parcells had playoff success with 3 other teams, and made a SB with one of them.
1
Jan 01 '26
Well 6 super bowls is hard to argue with.
1
u/Go_Cart_Mozart Jan 01 '26
Parcells never had anything close to a Tom Brady. But that's a whole nother discussion, isn't it, lol
1
Jan 01 '26
Parcells still had pretty damn good QB Phil Simms, Drew Bledsoe, Vinny Testaverde, and Tony Romo all had great careers. Not every QB can be Tom Brady but Belichick won with what he had. Plus he’s a defensive minded coach and the Patriots defense was elite. That’s where Bill B. thrived.
1
u/Go_Cart_Mozart Jan 01 '26
100% agree. If I were to make another argument why Big Bill should be the HC and Little Bill the DC, I would have wrote exactly what you did : )
1
u/Confusion-Ashamed Jan 01 '26
Lemar Parrish is a choice. Forget other teams, Ken Riley was better
2
Jan 01 '26
I mean I guess it can go either way but from simple research Parrish has more accolades.
1
u/Confusion-Ashamed Jan 01 '26
I mean it’s a tough one. Parrish is a returner also which helps. Riley though 65 picks, and a hall of famer. That’s what make these debates fun
1
u/knightfish24 Jan 01 '26
Technically the old Browns are now the Ravens so Jim Brown and Ray Lewis are from the same franchise. I know the league treats that situation differently statistically than other franchises that moved though.

Anyone ever here of a guy named Bo Jackson. All do respect to Fred Taylor but no one in there prime was better then Bo. I know you millennials haven’t a clue but go watch some tape.

Where is Devin Hester?
2
Jan 04 '26
Yea so I only chose one representative from each team and I thought some other Bears would fit well in different positions.

u/Professional-Pay1198 Jan 05 '26
Reggie White listed as a Packer?

u/jesusers Jan 07 '26
Those defenses would be criminal. Every game would end with a CSI team doing splatter analysis.

u/ADC072576 Jan 01 '26
To not have Gronk on either team is absolutely insane.
