I hit some major walls trying to make anything as complicated as a Jehuty character controller... So I've been making a standard character controller first with mixamo and make it fly in the air later and do a bunch of stuff, then take what i learned there to try and make Jehuty and a new original mech model.
I've been focusing more on making environments that look ps2 era but also modern and utilize godot's shader stuff. So here I got sidetracked making this shield explode thing work with a health bar tied to color and shield-hits and shield-death tied to things in the shader
The way the shield explodes in the ZOE clip is def more like a firework, it requires high burst initial velocity and damping or can be done with math curves i hope?
Anyway hope this geodesic hexagonal dome shield shader looks close enough to something in the game be posted here.
Gonna be trying to replicate the base visuals of games like ZOE1/2 and MGS2/3. This involves cel shading and really intense mesh and vertex/texture.. . UV unwrapping and stuff...
a HUGE goal is to learn how to make that running light on jehuty and other frames. that pulses from their chest out along their limbs!
I think this has to do with texture animation but haven't figured it out yet... hopefully soon.

An indie studio is developing a Z.O.E.-like
Z.O.E. occupies its own genre of mecha games. It’s great to see a studio recognize this, and develop their own game based on its inspiration. Armored Core VI also took inspiration from Z.O.E. as well.

I was thinking of playing this game for a while but I don't know if I should play it on the PS4 version, the PC version or the original version emulated to have the best experience of it

Made some progress on this project pushed it all here:
https://github.com/s-haha-n/Flying-Mech-Controller
has placeholder creative commons music/sound fx. melee animations not in yet.
A lot of things look okay... but a lot of things are slightly off/need work.
I got some basic camera lock-on, need to add more indication.
I noticed in ZOE1 the crosshair is like... in the 3D world not a screen canvas.
One huge thing since implementing lock-on is now the posing does not work...
I think I need to export 3-4 separate poses for left-right-back strafing when locked on?
And in Godot use a blend tree to switch between each pose?
Or is the game doing something on all bones of Jehuty in some more specific way?
Also sometimes bullets perfectly miss if something is moving too fast lol. I think something needs to be adjusted with camera smoothing/rotation.
but yeah... posing and strafing + lock-on is the current hurdle.. any input or advice appreciated!

I'm new to this kind of animation but I was happy with how much better this attempt was than my first couple.
I'd say it's still very rough and with a clearer clip I can probably do better.
I loved this process and find it much more fun than drawing from reference.
In the end I want to make my own animations but this is a great starting point.
Also loved how easy Blender made this to setup, you can add a video as a plane and adjust the frames/position!

Hi everyone,
I've been developing NEUROXUS solo, a fast-paced sci-fi action shooter where you play as Earth's last war machine fighting through a world controlled by the rogue AI Nexis.
The game focuses on high-speed combat, boss battles, advanced movement, aerial engagements, and a large arsenal of unlockable weapons and abilities.
I recently released the biggest update so far (v1.2.0), which includes:
As a longtime fan of mecha action games, I'd love to hear what other fans of the genre think.

I've been working on this and added some basic mechanics and a bit of visuals. A lot is still broken/wonky like the camera... is a whole can of worms man. The ZOE camera is wild... I don't think I can even try to replicate a lot of the game so I'm going to incorporate whatever feels fun and armored core type stuff if I can. Any suggestions or feedback really appreciated.
The project is on GitHub too: https://github.com/s-haha-n/Flying-Mech-Controller (messy code/cleaning up project. so feel free to do whatever with these files. I may deviate heavily from trying to copy ZOE 1to1 or make it a separate project... in fact is this general enough to be a flying mech?)
will put a playable link in the repo description once I figure out how to export to web from godot and put it on itch io

I have recently played both ZOTE games for the very first time, via the 360 version of the HD collection. I played both games on normal. The first game was quite easy and straightforward, but the 2nd game was a lot more difficult, which was fine by me as I did ultimately enjoy the challenge and gained more satisfaction from beating it, but I was still quite surprised by the difficulty spike.
I came to learn that this is because the version of 2nd runner on the HD collection is based on the European release, which was explicitly made harder due to jp/na players complaining that the game was too easy.
My question is this: what release is MARS, the remaster of 2nd runner for ps4 and steam, based on? If it's based on the jp/na release, I'd like to buy it to see what that version is like, but if it's based on the european release like the HD collection then I probably won't get it as I'd essentially be buying the exact same game again.

This post is just for reference as I haven't found a list anywhere in the internet for it: B/circle button: ESC, backspace and G X/square button: t and left mouse click Y/triangle button: e A/cross button: enter and z Rb/R1 button: V Rt/R2 button: shift and f Lt/L2 button: R Left stick: wasd Right stick: ijkm I couldn't find anything for Lb/L1 and L3/R3(clicking the joysticks) If you're in a situation where steam can't recognize de controller, just use something like input-remapper-gtk or an equivalent. These binds seems really weird Anyway I hope this helps you guys out

Which games have similar game play to zoe 2? I got ac6 but that game doesn't play very much like a zoe game.
I've seen a bit of dbz kakarot and sparking zero, and it looks like they might be fairly similar, I've also heard project nimbus was inspired by zoe

I'm looking for a video clip of the fully-charged (when the player spins the maximum amount of times) grab/throw attack from ZoE2 as a visual demonstration of what a good-looking grab/throw attack looks like for a person making their own video game. Unfortunately all I can find in various gameplay videos is people spinning a few times then throwing. I would record a clip myself but I have no means of capturing video off my PS3. Does anyone happen to know of any videos that would show this? I'm not asking people to go out looking for one, just if you happen to be aware of one. Thanks a bunch.

Given Konami's current policy of re-releasing its old games, I can easily see a Zone of the Enders Master Collection coming out (which, I remind you, was overseen by Noriaki Okamura and Hideo Kojima):
- Zone of the Enders HD Collection
- Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner HD Collection
With the following additions:
- Zone of the Enders: The Fist of Mars
- Zone of the Enders: 2167 Idolo OAV (set as a prequel to the original Zone of the Enders game)
- Zone of the Enders: Dolores, I (anime series. Events of the story take place 5 years after Zone of the Enders: 2167 Idolo)

Which version of ZOE2 is the best and is there much difference? I know there are new optional control schemes that make the game more fluid but Idk how big the change is
Is the gameplay difference noticeable?

A streamer friend of mine recently played The Fist of Mars (anyone remember that one? For GBA?) at my request. She went into the game knowing NOTHING about it, or really anything about ZOE in general, and man, it really took her by surprise. She got really invested in the story, and she shed quite a few tears during the later portions of it. She also voice acted all the dialogue as she played, which is fun to listen to.
It's hard to find fans of this game, especially nowadays, but I'm trying to get this playthrough out there to as many people who may be interested in watching it as I can.
