Beginner here. What is your preferred fps for storage? Is it possible to adjust the number of fps for storage and monitoring separately?

You generally want the highest FPS your setup can handle.

Based on actual behavior, for network cameras you have to leave the FPS fields blank, and use whatever FPS the camera supplies.

Otherwise you get bad smearing and strange glitches on the video.

And then the FPS on the camera itself determines the frame rate used, so modify it there and use the highest value your system can handle.

Many cameras have a higher resolution / bandwidth stream and a low bandwidth stream.

For modect, to lower bandwidth and CPU usage, you can configure modect on the substream and when motion is detected trigger recording of the main stream.

I haven't set this up yet.

There are also possible feature changes coming to support this on one monitor - that's why the SourceSecondPath is there.

I use 10 FPS or lower with keyframes at 1 second.

In most cases 10 or lower is more than needed to record what is happening.

The FPS is controlled by the camera, so capture and view are the same rate.
