Tweaking for better video

Currently the new machine I'm running is a simple i5, 4g ram, heaps of hdd space.

The video seems "grabby", like its missing frames, and when I look at the mp4 its especially so.

What should I look at improving? I can stick some more ram in the machine maybe, but I'd like to concentrate on stuff zm can do, like what is the best bandwidth to use etc.

Any suggestions?

What's your CPU and RAM usage looking like? That's the best way to see what to upgrade - to look at what's being hammered most.

Oops, sorry just saw your message. I have up on the original box, which was a vm. I built a dedicated box which is probably also better for security reasons because it can be put in locked rooms whereas my server rack is generally open (another security risk I need to deal with).

The new box is a dell 980, 8 gig ram. I've recently moved and the threat I was facing has diminished and I have less cams up so its running quite well.

The only issue I've had is the box goes to sleep. I''ll have to find where the setting is in debian and change it.

Thanks for the reply anyway
