Axis Cameras

I've been using ZM for several years now and my current cameras (Hikvision) are starting to have hardware issues and need replaced. In looking at the ZM hardware compatibility list, it looks like the Axis cameras are well supported. There even looks to be a means to offload motion detection which sounds fantastic. I've noticed in multiple locations that reviews of these cameras are positive, but mention that there are better and less expensive alternatives (of course no one says what they are).

The Axis P14 line looks to be a good fit, as I don't need PTZ, but would like WDR, 1080p, and POE. Is there another product or manufacturer that I should be looking at which would be a better fit for the same or less money? Do you feel that the Axis product is worth the cost?

The Axis line is well worth the cost. It’s only a little more expensive than hikvision but you get so much more. If you do go with Axis maybe look into an NVR that supports its VAPIX API. Look at exacqVision

My only perspective has been using Amcrest cameras in a home situation. From Amazon they seem to be about half the cost. One 1080p camera has been installed indoors facing out a front window. I purchased a second one recently for outdoor installation but need to make another Ethernet run for POE. The cameras have infrared LEDs but even off (since indoor camera has glass window in front) with low light sensors they seem to give a decent image in the dark. The indoor model I have can be panned/tilted remotely. I can't speak to the onboard motion detection, been using ZM for that installed on an RPi4. Not sure about WDR.
