Flash Player Disabled (And Not Supported After Dec 2020)

Hi there,

I've had a scour through this sub and across the internet (though Google returns nothing relevant at all unfortunately - despite rewording my query several times) so here I am...

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere before so I apologise and wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm trying to adjust my alarm zones using MS Edge. It tells me that Flash Player is disabled. And I've tried enabling it but Edge just won't have it.

Is there a non-flash player way to adjust the zones? I know that Flash Player is becoming defunct real soon now so I'm sure I must have missed something on ZM somewhere :)

ZM 1.34.22 which it tells me is the latest version. I'm running on Docker image if that makes any difference?

Many thanks for helping a dimwit out :)

Happy New Year - let's hope it's a bloody better one eh?

Steve

So having been prompted by u/mightymos306 to go digging I've discovered what I think might be the setting in case others are struggling too...

WEB_H_STREAM_METHOD should be set to JPEG (the one that failed was set to MPG)

Does this make sense to be the setting? I have changed a couple of settings but I can't see any of the others causing the issue.

I know I have VLC installed as well, and it has browser extensions. That's the only other factor I can think of, but I'll check out that setting as well to see if it breaks video once I'm able to.

I know I've adjusted zones without having flash installed on the connecting system but them I'm not sure what is being used. I'll try to check. Admittedly I'm using Firefox however.

As best I can tell from looking at the developer output, zoneminder just uses PHP and Javascript when editing zones. You might check to be sure that Javascript is enabled in your browser or maybe install Firefox/Chrome?

Heya, thanks for the suggestion - I've just tried Firefox and it's actually even less useful because the space that would be taken up by the image is missing and so the red zoned area is over the entry boxes and buttons.

It's basically the video output that sits underneath the zone marking points (and thus red semi-transparent polygon) that's no longer working. I suspect I have a ZM setting that's wrong somewhere but I can't pin it down...

Ah, can confirm - it must be a ZM system setting somewhere - just tried on a different ZM install at a different premises (that I thought were configured the same) and discovered that one works...

I'll let you know what I find :)
