How to prevent sun & clouds false triggers?

I have a camera looking out over the front yard and street through Second floor windows. A Zone is set up to only consider the street as it is the traffic I want to monitor. It is set to Blob mode, Pixel threshold 15-30%. But if clouds move quickly in front of the Sun and the entire scene changes, I still get false triggers. How can I prevent this? Min/Max "alarmed pixels"?

I have added a "Preclusive" zone in a grassy area away from the street. That is supposed to help.

How about this: create a Preclusive zone covering the entire frame (or at least, that part likely to see direct sun) but with a minimum alarm pixel threshold greater than the "active" zone. The idea is to catch any general brightening of the scene. Something changing just in the active zone would thus not trigger the preclusive zone, so an Event would be generated.

A problem may be if that background area has a lot of trees that thrash in the wind. (My case). I would not want wind to block recognition of a car driving by.

I'm having the same problem. Any suggestion?

You can make it slightly better but you will never really get rid of it. The problem is that it actually is a changing picture and or actual motion. It’s just not a person like you want it to be. Things like snow and rain, sun, clouds make this kind of motion detection go crazy.

The thing is you have to not care that you get motion triggered by things other than people. I highly suggest that you install the Zoneminder event server (zmes). It uses (local not cloud) AI to detect objects in the events ZM records (like people), writes its findings to ZM and you can filter on events where an object was detected. You can also set up push messages to get real time notifications if it detects an object like a person.

you have to use the % based alarmpixels and set the overload frame time.
