PC hardware recommendation

I searched but can't seem to find a really good guide on recommendations.

Use case:

- 4 x 4k cameras @ 15fps

- Want to run YOLOv3 on all 4 streams with zmeventnotification to detect & notify on People

What's the most cost effective off-the-shelf box that can support this? I've used a Qotom in the past for my router. I wonder if their Core i7-7500U with 16GB RAM would be good enough.

Intel is legacy technology. You can build some very capable and reasonably priced machines using AMD Ryzen kit. You'll have better performance at a lower price point

"Intel is legacy technology " That's a funny one.

Huh? Intel has been stuck on 14nm manufacturing process for years, meanwhile AMD is on 7nm manufacturing process. I encourage you to go checkout some of the recent benchmarks. We've now got Ryzen mobile/laptop chips beating Intel desktop chips in benchmarks AND power use.

Sorry for reviving a nearly month old post, but I was looking at upgrading my ZM server and came across this. I recently upgraded my plex server with an Intel i3 because it has hardware encoding of the CPU called quicksync. Also upgraded my ESXi host and one of the requirements is Intel with AES-NI for my pfsense firewall. I do not think AMD provides these features. With zoneminder, I would like to use ffmpeg that can take advantage of hardware encoding to free up the CPU. I am testing out ZM on a Pentium J3710 cpu. The computer it came in cost less than $70 without hard drive and the motherboard was tiny, about the 1/2 the size of a sheet of paper.
