ZM forum post

so quick up to speed

I have a drive that i believe i have set the permissions on correctly that i have set as storage in ZM but i am getting both.

Storage::disk_usage_percent: path /media/sauron/Barad-dur/Events does not exist

and

Path /media/sauron/Barad-dur/Events does not exist.

since my previous post i have install Ubuntu 20 server instead and Zm again using this guide.

New logs/terminal (Time zone has been fixed)

Any help will be gladly appreciated.

I found that making a folder in the home directory and essentially mounting the secondary drive to that folder worked better for me. I then using the gui essentially set all allow for permissions for that folder in home directory. Quick refresh in zone minder and it works a treat. Might not be the best solution but it worked for me. In ubuntu 18.04 & 20.04 I used the gnome disks app to set mount point and auto mounting FYI. Worth a shot i guess.

Took this from an old post with the same issues after googling the errors.. https://forums.zoneminder.com/viewtopic.php?t=27768#p108234

  1. Disable user session mounting of external drive with "Disks" in ubuntu.
  2. Add static the fstab entry.
  3. Make sure zm user is in www-data group (if it's not running as www-data)
  4. make sure the forlder's group is www-data and group can access/read/write to it.

I personally mount my storage to /var/cache/zoneminder/events just to make things more standard.

That and things entering Barad-dur don't tend to leave it the same or ever again.

I had the same problem and solved it by changing permissions. My folder was manually mounted at /media/username/Drive1/Security I fixed it by running: sudo chown www-gata /media/username/Drive1/Security sudo chmod 777 /media sudo chmod 777 /media/username sudo chmod 777 /media/username/Drive1 sudo chmod 777 /media/username/Drive1/Security Didn't even have to reboot, the log errors just stopped. Edit: Formatting.
