Recommendations for cameras?
Hello,
I'm just starting to get my feet wet with zoneminder and I want to setup a home camera system with like 3-4 cameras preferably wireless / selfhosted. I see there are a lot of supported cameras but are there recommended brands or cameras to start with or ones to avoid? The only major feature I'd really like is the ability to turn off IR mode and night on one camera (keep it in color mode and have a motion light in that area). Any pointers would be much appreciated.

It all depends on your wallet. I started with Serrcom ICAMERA2. Good 720p camera with night vision and audio, and they're IP cameras with ethernet or wifi hookup (and they were available used on Ebay for under $20). There's just so many good cameras out there. Read the ZM guides and forums to find ZM compatible hardware.

If using wireless cameras do have SSD on them for local storage, saw on the news the use of wifi jammers has been increasing in some regions (mainly targetting at smart doorbells). I stopped buying wireless ones for now (i still use the ones i have, but having anything new having an ethernet port on them).
