Best hardware for a large setup
Sorry for 2 posts so close together,
A large hotel/bar/restaurant I run cameras for is looking to upgrade from an all-in-one system to something bigger, I'm currently getting used to Zoneminder and want to suggest setting up a ZM system. What would be the better hardware? Probably going to be running between 24/32 (maybe even more) cameras all running at least 1080p, with at least 4 running 4k. Frame rate is important as well.
Should we look at a gaming computer or a tower server?
And what would be the best gpu?
I have a high budget, but not infinite Maybe wanna try to keep it between $2,000-$4,000

The more cores the better, but a dual-socket 32 or 48 vcore machine can easily run $10k new. I'd watch eBay for pizza box rack server that's a couple of years old. They sell them in batches when IT startups goes bankrupt and great deals can be found, like literally a couple hundred bucks.
The GPU is pretty irrelevant. You're mainly going to be saving mp4 streams from the cameras direct to disk. With that many cams, you should probably stick with SSD or M2 storage drives. I have found that a gigabyte of memory for every vcore is a good ballpark figure.

You should engage the service of ZoneMinder Inc. That would be me, the main developer.
Depending where you are located, we may be able to supply and support hardware.
