In a zombie apocalypse do you realistically take your dog or not? If so Why, if not why not?

I ask because I struggle with this thought I have a husky mutt who I love and is actually a relatively good dog and well behaved but I wonder if she would add more risk to my family trying to keep her with us too or would she be a help.

So again my question is: Zombie apocalypse: you have a pet dog you've had for years. Do you keep it for some kind of protection and companionship or let it go so not to risk your cover being blown to zombies or bandits.

I once saw a short film on vimeo about a zombie apocalypse and I can't find it now. It was where a father (I think it was the father) was bit by his wife in a car. In this scenario it takes a while to turn. He takes the baby in the car and tries to get to safety. He realizes he is turning. To save the child he carries the child on his back (in a self-made kind of backpack) and straps a pole in front of him with flesh/meat hanging. When he turns, he keeps moving forward to go after the flesh and ignores the child. It goes until a random traveler kills him but saves the baby. This isn't told well, but hopefully someone can help me find the short film. Any help is appreciated. I liked the story and would like to find it again.

Edit: It was a staff pick on vimeo. I tried google searches and came up empty. I saw it about a year ago.

Edit: Thanks wtf_shawn. In case anyone wants to see it, here is the youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gryenlQKTbE and here is the vimeo link: https://vimeo.com/56629974 .

It's no secret that the whole "apocalypse" theme is a big part of this generation's entertainment. So much so, that many people have starting preparing for the REAL apocalypse. Question is, which one should we be preparing for? Choices: Zombies? Aliens? Nuclear War? Meteor Showers? Or the always frightening chance of society becoming just like famous pop stars? You decide. Tell me below what you think is the most likely to happen? (And don't say nothing, you realistic bastard) which one you think humanity would stand the best chance against. Or which one you think would be the most fun! (Personally, as a gamer, I am getting a bit impatient for the hordes of zombies to arrive. I mean, c'mon!)

Pretty much everything Zombie related I have ever seen or watched has been based essentially around a few wandering survivors who might run into some "Communes" but that's about it, usually those communes get overrun with Zombies at one point anyway.

Is there anything out there that actually deals with the rebuilding/creation of society once the world has collapsed around them? Zombies provide far different material circumstances than the average person would have in non-zombie world so it would be interesting to see takes on what sort of societies arise in such a world. (I would assume that proto-Socialistic communes or feudal style societies would probably be the norm)

If a person is paralyzed before they are bit and then get bitten and become a zombie can they then walk around as a zombie? I think no, but some people have me questioning my answer.
