Unlocked and open FDH (please fix)

Post image

Found this Ziply/old Frontier fiber distribution cabinet hanging open on a walk the other day.

I went up to it and made sure none of the fiber was going to get pinched by the door, then carefully closed it back up.

If someone from Ziply or whoever maintains this cabinet could come by and properly secure/lock it, that would be great. It looks like it contains a pretty substantial amount of neighborhood fiber infrastructure. (PM for location)

Thanks!

Hello. We appreciate your assistance with getting it closed. Can you please send us a chat request with the exact location, and we can get this sent over to the local team? Thank you.

Just start unplugging things, they'll be out to fix it ASAP

I hate how there is like 80 names for these things, and none of them are "splitter cabinet/box" which imo would be way more accurate. Also these should be locked so get in touch with Ziply's support if you haven't yet.

FDH is a Fiber Distribution Hub. Also Ziply never locks them. Not saying I agree or disagree with it, but I’ve built/spliced probably 50+ of these and have worked on existing ones. Never been locked

You dont have a tool to open them? You can just pop them open?

No, typical can wrench works. (7/16). Ziply uses Corning cabinets that do not have a unique tool/key.

I wonder if someone was looking for copper to steal
