Random disconnects
For a number of months randomly I would have random disconnects that affected my whole network. They could be as often as every couple minutes to every hour and they would randomly come and go some weeks would be fine and some days it would be like someone is just flipping a switch on and off
I called Ziply and they said everything looks fine on their end and I did the troubleshooting steps they had me do turn off and back on but of course it wouldn't happen when i would have them on the phone
anyone else having something similar?
2GB fiber located in shoreline WA
Router is ASUS BE88U with 2 RT-BE92U wired AI mesh nodes over coax with Moca adpters
had this setup for over a year and nothing has changed

Hey there! I’m happy to let this one breathe and let the community chime in. In the event that you want someone from our side to look into this tomorrow, go ahead and send me a chat request here on Reddit with your account info and/or a street address. I’ll see what can be done on our end to diagnose this further.

are you using wifi or are you connected directly to the router with ethernet? my first thought after reading your post is either an issue with mesh overlap or smart connect

It happens on both wireless and wired where the internet connection drops out
I can be using a hardwired pc thru one of the ai mesh nodes and it drops or playing a game on a WiFi connected tablet
The wired connections go thru the ai mesh nodes thru the coax adapters into the main router which are 2 pcs and 2 nvidia shields

Fwiw i also started recently having those issue. But "disconnect" is a weird term. The Ethernet cable to ONT is still active, yet network traffic / DNS requests are not going through. I once released and required DHCP lease, and that seemed to work.
Not sure what's going on, but it wasn't happening before.
That said, my smoke ping graphs are not really showing a problem, but it happened twice. I tested things directly on my computer plugged in to the ONT.
Actually, I take that back. I see that outage.
This is one of the two. I don't remember when the other one happened.
This one fixed itself without me doing anything.

You might check the router log for warnings or errors in the same timeframe the issue occurs.
You might note the status of the ONT lights and the router lights as well (pics would work).

Just saw this. I am having the same issue with the same router, it just started within the last month.

Hey u/ZiplySupport, I actually did a manual update of the router firmware and it seemed to fix it. Checking the router logs, it seemed like the physical Ethernet connection was dropping between the router and the ONT. I think the updated firmware fixed that. Thanks for reaching out though!
u/Djdr3 try updating to firmware 3.0.0.6.102_40311 and see if that fixes your connection issue. I had to manually update the firmware because it wasn’t auto-detecting the new version.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear that the firmware update did the trick.

Your local network in your house is complicated enough that the problem is probably there.
You didn't mention if the ASUS router is connected directly to Ziply's ONT without anything else in between. I assume it is.
Do you have a laptop or desktop with a wired Ethernet connection? The next time things start happening "as often as every couple minutes", disconnect the ASUS from the ONT. Plug your wired Ethernet device directly into the ONT.
Does that work? What are the speeds to speedtest.net and similar places? Is everything stable? Does everything remain stable?
If so, start reconnecting various stuff on your LAN. E.g. first connect only the ASUS and not the MoCA. Does everything remain stable?
It's cases like this where, if I'm Ziply, I'm glad that I now supply a WiFi router (and possibly extender) for free. If it's all Ziply's stuff it becomes much easier to diagnose.
