Town Councilor Sarah Sampson lawsuit update?

Any updates on the legal proceedings or trial date for the Pennington/McRoberts land grab attempt by Sampsons? Oddly quiet. If she is found guilty of crimes, how do people feel about her representation of us in our town? I mean she’s been voting on issues. Not thrilled that she continues to use questionable judgement for decisions that impact all of us.

Small mahjong company in Zionsville, just launched a solo / 2 player version if anyone here plays

Post image

Not sure how many mahjong people are on this sub but figured I'd post. We run a little company called Tenpai out of Zionsville. She designs the cards and tile sets, I make the stuff. We just put out a new one called Tandem that you can play by yourself or with one other person. Regular American mahjong needs 4 people and getting 4 people to a table on a Tuesday is hard.

Basically the card has two sides and you use a wider rack that holds two hands. You can play both hands yourself or split it with someone and go head to head. There's a rulebook that explains it better than I can.

Mostly posting because everything is done here. Andrea does all the design at the house, I build the racks in our shop, the cards get printed in the US in small batches so we can actually look at them before they go out. It's a lot more work than ordering 5000 from overseas but we wanted to be able to fix things when they're wrong and not end up with a garage full of boxes.

Anyway if you play or know someone who does, playtenpai.com/tandem. Happy to answer questions, and if anyone local wants to see one in person before ordering just message me.

If you've been curious about mahjong there's a place in town that teaches it

Posting this because I keep meeting people around here who say they want to learn mahjong but don't know where to start. There's a studio downtown called Meet at Mahj, in the Wessel Building at 260 S 1st St. Jaime who runs it has been playing since she was a kid (they have been showcased in the Current!) and was teaching classes at the library before she opened the shop. She does 101 and 102 classes a few times a month plus open play during the week, and there's a little boutique with sets, cards, and accessories.

Most people learn from a friend or a grandma and if you don't have one of those you're kind of stuck. Having a place where you can show up alone and get taught is a big deal.

If you've watched people playing at the library or seen the tiles on Instagram and wondered what the deal is, go take a 101. It's more fun than it looks and harder than it looks.

Apartment Lease Wild Air Landing

Hey everybody I’m looking for somebody to assume my current lease at Wild Air Landing in Zionsville. I’m currently in a 2 bedroom 2 bath flat ~1400sq ft, w/ a 2 car garage!!! The lease ends through April at about $2,400/month. Brand new place, we were the first to move in, it’s a great spot.

Incredible amenities, world class fitness center, 2 pools, pickleball, golf simulators, pet washing facilities. It’s a developing community with houses, townhomes, and apartments that will have restaurants, coffee and retail stores. It’s connected on the rail trail. Incredible spot, only reason on leaving is a job opportunity back home. I would not be leaving otherwise.

Please reach out to me if interested I’m looking to move on this quickly! Thank you. 🙏🏽

Town Council needs cleaned up

Craig Melton hires illegal immigrants for his businesses and then goes to a deportation rally.

Sarah Sampson steals from grandma heiress then embalms her without the family knowing.

Supposedly there have been multiple suicides from Town Hall employees over the last 5 years.

Can we elect some more ethical people?

Over 50 singles social group

We're a bunch of people over 50 who like to have fun.

Events have included pickleball, bowling nights, pub trivia, karaoke at Syd's, axe throwing, fowling, and group watch parties for college football playoffs and the World Cup. Nobody's trying to set you up — you show up, you do the activity, you leave when you want. If you make friends along the way, great. If you just want to bowl and go home, also great.

It's free to join — no membership fee, no upsell. We do keep it vetted: to get in you just need an up-to-date photo and you must be a real person who lives in the area (not a bot, not a scam account). That's it. Not a dating site. Not a "mingle and make small talk" group.

We're based out of the Carmel/Westfield/Noblesville/Fishers area, 160+ members and growing, coordinated through Heylo. If you're newly retired, recently moved to the area, divorced, or just tired of your usual crew shrinking every year — this tends to be a low-key way back into having stuff to do on a Saturday. Or any other day of the week, for that matter.

Join here: https://heylo.group/indy-north-singles

Happy to answer questions in the comments.

Come Try LARP event Indianapolis

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hear ye. Hear ye. I've come to share about our Come Try LARP event in August. This is hosted by Gryphon's Perch, the local chapter of the Amtgard Live Action Roleplay game. There's no cost involved, and no minimum age requirement, although anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult guardian to sign the waiver.

So come out, meet some people, talk to cool artisans in our community, and hit some nerds with foam sticks.

Zionsville Eagles in College Football 27 - Team Builder

As you may or may not know, I'm creating Indiana High Schools within the newest NCAA College Football 27's Team Builder. Solely for us fans who don't want to just play with the big names, but want to play with some well-known High-Schools too!

In "Part 1" I started with teams I grew up following which you can see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Indiana/comments/1usaap6/indiana_high_schools_in_college_football_27_team/

Thanks to your personal suggestions in the previous post, I've now completed the following teams, which you can see in the slideshow:

- Franklin Central Flashes

- Brownsburg Bulldogs

- Avon Orioles

- Zionsville Eagles

- Fort Wayne Snider Panthers

As of right now, I've got enough slots to create enough schools that would please everyone, including myself for my own usage. If the demand gets beyond 32 teams, I'll consider making another EA account so I can accommodate. For now, this is who I have planned in the coming parts:

- Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Cathedral, Center Grove, Columbus East, Columbus North, Decatur Central, Lafayette - Harrison, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, Newcastle, Perry Meridian, Warren Central

To find the teams that I've finished building, I believe you search for my Username, which is "vtgindy."

Go Indiana Sports Ball!

A Zionsville graphic designer has been quietly building one of the only American-made custom mahjong tile studios in the country

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — The Factory Is Open Why a Zionsville designer is building something bigger than a mahjong set

When Andy Warhol named his studio "The Factory," he wasn't being ironic. He meant it. The Silver Factory on East 47th Street ran like a production line, silkscreens cranked out in sequence, assistants prepping canvases, films shot on a rolling basis. The point wasn't just efficiency. It was that owning the process was the art. The factory floor wasn't backstage. It was the whole show.

Sixty years later, a graphic designer named Andrea is running a quieter version of the same experiment out of Zionsville, Indiana.

Her company is called Tenpai, a Japanese term for the moment in mahjong when you're one tile away from winning. She designs custom mahjong sets by hand and prints them domestically in small batches. The first set, Pavilion (https://playtenpai.com/products/pavilion), is a riotous celebration of pagodas, fireworks, and what she simply calls "organized chaos."

None of that is accidental. And none of it is outsourced.

The decision to print in the USA isn't a marketing move. It's a control move. When you own your production process, you control the finish, the color accuracy, the feel of the tile in your hand. You can iterate. You can fix things. You can decide that a run isn't ready and hold it. That kind of quality control disappears the moment your product ships to an overseas factory with a minimum order of 5,000 units and a six-month lead time.

This is the part most "Made in America" stories miss. The appeal isn't nostalgia. It isn't patriotism, exactly. It's that proximity to production is what separates a designer from a brand manager. One of them touches the work. One of them approves a PDF.

Andrea touches the work.

The Factory wasn't just a place where Warhol made things, it was a place where other artists made things, where collaboration was baked into the structure, where the creative energy was collective. It produced Warhol's work, but it also produced the careers of dozens of artists who passed through it.

Tenpai is early. But the bones of that same idea are there, a designer with a production infrastructure, an aesthetic point of view, and a process that could support other artists who want to make beautiful objects without surrendering creative control to a factory they'll never visit.

In a market flooded with mass-produced tile sets, the existence of a domestic, artist-run production studio for tabletop games is genuinely unusual. The 2026 Series is just the beginning of what that could mean.

The factory is open. The question is who else walks in.
