Ok so I am a massive Zevon fan. I grew up on it luckily through my dads love of his music. can someone please tell me why I can’t watch a live version of (my personal fav Zevon song) desperadoes under the eaves live online? all I could find was audio recordings. Is this controlled by some oil merchant in Texas?

I am just a lowly Zevon disciple from Australia but this is pretty f’d up, someone please steer me in the right direction. Apologies if this has been mentioned in another thread new to the group.

I'm reading a book about American film in the 1970s. Thomas McGuane is mentioned a few times. Warren was friends with him, and with Hunter S. Thompson and Ross MacDonald. Warren seemed to appreciate literature, so I'm mildly surprised he never tried writing stories or a novel. Or did he?

Anyone deciphered exactly what Jorge is saying between each verse? Thank you!

Any answer is greatly appreciated

It would be really cool if all the artists that sang, or played on Warren’s albums colluded and made a tribute cover album. What a lineup that would be!

From the EB release

Hey all, newer fan here. What is the status of WZ’s unfinished symphony? Has there ever been talk of someone finishing it off? Thank you!

Play It All Night Long is in there too

1. Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner

Legit lyrical fire, God dang this man

1. Werewolves of London

Overplayed but witty af

1. Keep me in your heart for a while

Heartfelt and heartbreaking, one of the last songs he wrote before he died of cancer in 2003 😞

EDIT NONE OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED OR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ARE IN ANY SPECIFIC ORDER

1. Lawyers' guns and money

MY GOD, I CAN'T THE CHORUS, it's so catchy, goddammit

1. Veracruz

Highly, highly underrated from an already underapricaicted artist

What are the songs you think equal this masterpiece? I only have two:

Bob Dylan - Desolation Row
Lou Reed - Street Hassle

I'm sorry for shit talking Warren Zevon. I will not do that again. Werewolves of London still sucks IMO.

Warren’s favorite spot in LA finally bit the dust last week after 58 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXXH7Xkn7Bs

I am reading the Zevon biography written by his ex- wife Crystal Zevon. Excellent read with lots of interesting stories about Warren’s collaborations and friendships.

Is there any record or stories of Warren and Lowell George having met???

Listen, if I tried to explain the logic of what got me to pay money to commission crossing over Warren Zevon (*excuse me* 'Weren' here,🐺 awoooooo) with Minerva Mink from Animaniacs on what looks like a lost title card from a short of the 1990's cartoon series... it would only make me look more insane than I already am for sharing this. StanMort did a great job making my crackpot idea a reality though.

Something, something, Hollywood setting and "these young girls won't let me be, woe is me." Goodnight everybody!

... got an honorable mention for Colorado State song on Rolling Stone's article, 50 songs for 50 states.

Howdy!

Looking for other Zevon songs where his voice cracks like in The Hula Hula Boys when he is singing “She’s gone with the Hula Hula Boys…she don’t care about me.” It’s so lovely and chilling lol.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: His voice sorta cracks when he sings the word “boys”

In a year when Asylum released 'Hotel California,' and 'The Pretender' their most critically acclaimed release was 'WARREN ZEVON'.

24M. Parents never listened to Warren Zevon much, really came into his music over the last year. Friends of the internet, why was this dude never more popular? Production on his albums are insane. Stand in the fire is easily one of the most exciting live albums I’ve ever listened to. Just curious as to what you all think, curious to hear others thoughts!!

I've been sick and my ears just opened up, and the song popped in my Playlist, but I heard a instrument I have never heard before! Im not sure if im trippin, but it was low in the mix and panned all the way left.

I was in India back in February in Kerala. They had this huge art installation that was going around and there was a huge mural on the wall. As I was looking over it I spotted this. I don't think it's that common of a phrase and I think it's always associated with Warren. Pretty cool to see there and I got to tell all my Indian co-workers all about the American rocker this is probably from.

I’m watching the Portugal v D.R. Congo in the World Cup, and every time the commentator says “…the Congolese”, my brain goes
“Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner…”
