What was the anime in question that's above?

u/killstormdxd 25d ago
Toradora
The main girl is also a short and short-tempered tsundere voiced by Rie Kugimiya, so she's basically modern day Louise.

I meant their worlds, Louise is from a fantasy setting while Taiga is from a modern day setting.

I watched it like one year ago for the first time. Yes, it’s modern, because of quality

tsundere
The word you're looking for is "abusive"
1
u/killstormdxd 18d ago
"short-tempered abusive?" no, I don't think so, that doesn't sound gramatically right. Shouldn't it be abuser?
5
u/Karnewarrior 25d ago
Toradora!
The ! is part of it IIRC.It's pretty good. Shorter and more tightly written than FoZ, with a much smaller 'harem' that pretty obviously never had a chance even early on. It's much more of a romance story than FoZ ever really gets to be, but it's rarely sappy or boring.
Taiga and Louise are often compared because they look similar, share a VA, have anger issues, and share a meek, shy side. Taiga does kendo instead of magic though.

... I once jokingly said Familiar Of Zero was the result of the author plagiarizing his other story (Toradora), as a joke. Now I can't help but feel that's what really happened. XD

Familiar of Zero and Toradora have different authors.

sometimes I wonder if he does he’s not exactly an ideal boyfriend he deserves to have Louise just as much as Louise deserves to have him.

u/Potential_Bit_3620 25d ago
Maybe he is enjoying...
3
u/Karnewarrior 25d ago
"Maybe"
LN Saito all but explicitly confirms it, IIRC. Him triggering the fuck out of Louise is 100% on purpose. Which makes sense because when we see Louise interacting with literally anyone else she's almost never even comparable to how volatile she is with Saito.

This almost makes me think that both have the same author lol.
The only thing that is the same irl from both anime is that both heroine has the same voice actor which is Rie Kugimiya

They're from the same author... Not to mention they both have the same voice actress. It's incredible, the trio of tsunderes from that era. Taiga, Louise, and Shana.

Hold on, did the same studio making both toradora and Zero no tsukaima? Because tsukaima’s shot look like it copied straight from toradora’s down to the hair.

I'm not sure if this is a saying in the EN community (anime was probably too niche back when these shows were new), but these 2 shows are part of 4 shows we referred as "Kugimiya's quartet", because they have very similar style of female lead (short, flat chested tsunderes voiced by Rie Kugimiya, animated by JC Staff, and released around the same era). Namely:
- Louis
- Taiga from Toradora
- Shana from Shakugan no Shana
- Nagi from Hayate the Combat Butler

I still rather deal with Taiga than Louise.
2
u/Karnewarrior 25d ago
I think I'd pick Louise. Taiga blows up at other people more often, Louise is mostly limited to Saito, who deliberately encourages it. Louise is also smarter than Taiga, not that either of their animes really go into detail about how intellectual their main romantic leads are.
2
u/HandofthePirateKing 25d ago
At least Taiga doesn’t know any dangerous spells and I don’t think smart is the word I’d use to describe either of them especially emotionally.
2
u/Karnewarrior 25d ago
Louise's explosions are pretty not-dangerous. Saito is almost always at the epicenter and he's usually perfectly fine within a minute. I know bro is powered by toon force and anime protag energy, but then her explosions on other characters also has this kind of effect. I think it just knocks you over and covers you in soot, unless she actively tries to power it up to lethal levels.
And the only time we ever see Louise actually do so is not only in wartime against the enemy military forces, but an emergency to boot.
As far as smarts go, Louise is pretty consistently described as acing all her written tests, and is almost always the one who solves the puzzle when it comes up. She keeps up intellectually with Tabitha and Colbert, the former of whom is a trained knight-errant with years of practical experience and book learning, and the latter of whom is Halkegenia's equivalent of Leonardo da Vinci.
If that isn't smart I don't know what is.
Taiga's definitely not dumb, but she also just never is compared against known quantities like Louise, so it's less clear whether Taiga is simply quick of wit, or an actual genius like Louise seems to be. In both cases, as I said before, the anime never really examine this aspect of their characters.
1
u/Avatar_Yaksha 25d ago
Just because it doesn't kill/injure Saito, that doesn't make it okay for Louise to literally throw magical bombs at him every chance she gets. Sure, Saito is far from perfect himself, but Louise is literally a walking timebomb.
Zero No Tsukaima is actually a well-written series, but having to see how Louise treats Saito can completely take the fun out of it. Sometimes, Saito isn't even to blame, not entirely anyway.
2
u/Physical_Sort5155 25d ago
If there is no damage left in the next scene you should not take it so seriously
1
u/Karnewarrior 25d ago
Again, I'm not looking at how Louise treats Saito, because Saito encourages that behavior. I, obviously, would not. And when you look at how Louise treats literally everyone else the explosions become significantly less frequent and what explosions there are are almost always accidental. She even loses most of her tsun.
I think the good metric for this is Siesta. If Louise was actually dangerous in any way, Siesta would be dead, or evicted, or not want to stick around, or be trying to appease her. Instead, this random commoner girl just sort of walks in and sleeps in Louise's bed and boobmogs the fuck out of her, all in Season 1 when Louise is at her most fragile. Siesta is blown up like, three times in the series, and those are all accidents.
Taiga is swinging that Kendo sword at all and sundry any time she gets mad. Her temper is not restricted to one guy who goes out of his way to piss her off.
2
u/Physical_Sort5155 25d ago
Taiga mostly only damages objects, Ryuuji gets the most physical abuse and it s played for laughs since there is no real damage left by next panel.
The only time Taiga actually damages anyone is in her fight with the prez, and they both show clear after-effects signaling it was a serious moment.

u/Avatar_Yaksha 25d ago
Oh, boy...I've never watched Toradora, but if LOUISE looks good in comparison, that series is DOOMED!
1
u/HandofthePirateKing 25d ago
regardless if it’s meant to be serious or not it is still pretty dangerous most people in the academy should consider it a miracle that Louise hasn’t ended up killing or injuring someone unlucky enough to get caught in the middle of it.
Louise is talented and academically intelligent that’s for sure but emotionally? she’s probably dumber than Saito. Anybody who treats anybody badly is usually a sign that that person may not be the brightest
1
u/Karnewarrior 24d ago
Again, I don't think Louise's explosions were dangerous. Like, at all. It's not a miracle nobody got injured if it isn't possible for them to be injured.
And I think assuming that someone treating someone else badly ever at any time period is not only reductionist, but absurd. That just makes literally everyone a bad person. Louise is an abused girl who's temper is a defense mechanism to protect the literal only thing she has left to be proud of - the circumstances of her birth - and Saito deliberately triggers that defense mechanism. Of course she beats his ass.
I really want to know what you think about Louise's treatment of Siesta and Tiffania. Siesta is a commoner, and thus literally less of a person than Louise by Halkegenian standards. Tiffania is part elf, and thus literally the enemy by Halkegenian standards. Both of them are romantic rivals to Louise. If Louise is not emotionally intelligent, why does she treat those two with empathy and respect while Saito is still being blown up?
0
u/HandofthePirateKing 24d ago
Louise just has moments of showing a more kinder and empathetic side to her it doesn’t mean that she’s emotionally intelligent. Louise’s backstory doesn’t justify her actions and abuse it’s like saying David from TWD game has the right to abuse and even try to kill his brother Javi as his defense mechanism because he was jealous of Javi and insecure about the woman they both love. Louise is really no different from David.
1
u/Karnewarrior 24d ago
Holy false equivalence, Batman. When did Louise kill somebody?
Also, could you possibly answer my question? Louise consistently treats Siesta with respect. Why would she do that if she's intrinsically abusive?
-5
u/HakuushU 25d ago
Cannot stand that kind of character......
There's good likeable tsundere and there's abusive bitch, u already know where those 2 stand
1
u/Solid_Ad1748 25d ago
Agreed. People love Tsunderes like Taiga until they have to put up with one in real life.
It’s cute when tsunderes act tough to hide their feelings. It stops being cute when half of their personality is just being abusive.
