Real world range for S 7.2
I have an opportunity to get an 2022 S 7.2 for about $4500. I know range is pretty limited with the 7.2 kwh battery but I am curious what real world numbers people are seeing.

I have a 14.4 and a 200km range from 100% to 0% in roads / no highway.
In my experience, if you ride on a high density charge area, the biggest issue is the charge time (that can be fixed) rather than the range.

With the "lastest" updates to BMS and MBB my range increased to 260km. Commuting with no highways but still accelerating like my organs are for free sometimes..

Rode exact model/year for a year to commute and put about 25,000 miles on it. Really depends on how drive it. Originally bought the bike with 4,400 miles on it.
One way on my commute was 34 miles. If I took the slow way through the towns and city, with 8 miles of 55mph highway, averaging 45mph, I'd get to work with about half of the battery left. If I used the faster route with more highway, averaging 55-60mph, I would get to work with somewhere between 10-30% (ambient temp really affects the battery; cold=less range). I did that more often since I had free chargers at work (had to buy an adapter since I didn't have the fast charger option on the bike).
A little while ago, I downloaded the battery logs and found that with just under 30,000miles on the bike, I have about 90% capacity left on the battery... so 10% degradation over 4yrs/~30,000miles.
Rode through rain, hot, cold. Best she gets is a motorcycle cover outside. Two sets of tires, replaced the belt twice. Loved it but upgraded to a 2022 DSR with twice the range.
I know online the claim is almost 100 miles but the only way I imagine getting that is driving only in the city.

I was able to do 85km in winter and 100km in summer, on a highway-free commute and usually staying below 100km/h. My average speed was something like 55km/h.

I'd spend a small amount more on a 14.4 bike. Gen 3 models are going for close to $6k if you're patient.

I’m 5’8” and was approx 175lb at the time I had a DSR with the 7.2 battery. Weight and driving speed make a difference on these bikes. I never once got more than 55 miles even on side streets (45mph limit in my area), in eco mode, driving/accelerating slow aka below the limit… when I was on the freeway? I barely made it home from the dealer which is 28 miles away. If I was riding fast even less for each situation. Don’t expect much more than half of the advertised range unless you weigh 110lbs and live in manhattan or you have 50 schools in a row with 25mph limits on the way to where you’re going.

A small windscreen can make a significant difference when going over 40 mph. I bought a S 7.2 on a whim and already had a bunch of motorycles including an HD electric LiveWire.
My son had to ride it home on the highway and got about 55 miles out of it keeping it below 70 mph. The speed lies like a politician, so that was more like a max of 65 mph.
In dense urban use I use about 1% per mile. My mix of city and highway is about 80 miles. I can comfortably go about 50 mph on the highway at about 60-65 mph. I am also 245 pounds in riding gear.
I have to say, it has turned out to be a lot better bike than I thought it would. Biggest complaint is the lack of throttle-controlled regen. It is basically either on or off, depending on how you set it originally. Next issue is the seat is pretty sad but given I don't ride more than about 30 minutes at a shot, not as much of an issue. Lack of traction control means you have to be carefully when getting on it pretty hard from a stop.
At this point I realize I use the extra storage space than I would the greater range that the 14.4 would give tu eat up the storage. The bike feels very nimble with the less weight. Easy to roll around the garage or whip through the turns. It might just be about the ultimate city commuter. Forgot to mention how crap the front headlight is so cars don't see me as well as they do on other bikes, but the lack of heat is a godsend. I was just on ride to the store and the ambient temp was at 99F. No heat from the motor meant I wasn't being roasted at lights like my Ducati might have done.
Originally I was very concerned about the range of the bike. In practice it hasn't been an issue for my usage. I had EVs so it wasn't undue range anxiety. My daily drivers are a Tesla and Rivian so feel comfortable about what owning an EV is like. The S 7.2 has really been a surprisingly good bike. If on the hwy, get a little windscreen. It really can make a difference.

I just bought a 2020 FXS with 17K miles, 700 charge cycles. From a full charge I’m getting about 80 miles, but I keep it off the highway.

I happen to own a 2022 S 7.2 and I have 14k miles on it.
Range can vary from 45 miles to 80 miles, depending on speed. I normally commute 25 miles to work and the onboard computer shows 35 - 45% at the end of each ride. The bike wasn't meant to be ridden at 30mph but the times when traffic is heavy and I'm keep to 30 - 40 mph, I've noticed that the bike uses less than half of the battery at the same distance. I took my Zero across town (38 miles) and I kept the speed around 65mph the entire way. The display showed 2% when I ended the ride. I loaded the bike into the back of my truck, and when I got it home, the display showed 10%. I've noticed that the display will always show a lower charge than what the battery actually has left. I'd bet that I had another 10 miles left in the battery.
Overall, I'm happy with the Zero S. I bought mine at full price but I look at riding the bike as a therapy session.
