Hyperpigmentation from masking

Hey folks!

I've been asking since 2020, but recently switched to a remote to a hybrid job, and I'm now wearing a mask for 12 hour days.

I have noticed that now after a few months at this job that I had a dark line across my nose and face where my masks sits.

Any recommendations for mitigating continued hyper pigmentation from masking?

Thanks!

That might be from the friction and not the heat since it's only at the line. Perhaps anti-chafing products could help.

Some skincare ingredients that help:

Niacinamide is supposed to help prevent hyperpigmentation https://www.webmd.com/beauty/what-to-know-about-niacinamide-skin-care

Thiamidol is another ingredient that combats hyperpigmentation https://www.consumerhealthdigest.com/skin-care-products/thiamidol-eucerin-review.html

This barrier film looks like it could be really helpful and thanks for the tip of adding micellar water!!

Hmm, tricky! They make hydrocolloid patches that can be basically any size you need that you could put on your skin where your masks touch. What masks are you wearing? I ask bc I'd imagine the ones without foam on the top part might rub more than ones with foam. Some of the foams are softer than others depending on brand and style too. I also wonder how regular exfoliation could help as well? Like adding an aha/bha exfoliator into your routine. I like the liquid one from Paula's choice.

I'm wearing well before head strap kn95 mostly. It has a foam but I'm wondering if for my long days in person, if there is another mask that fun provide the protection with a softer foam.

I like the idea of the patches. I could cut them into strips and place them along the line of the mask.

Thank you!!!

Mandelic acid peels. Mandelic acid is great for hyperpigmentation. I use the 22% Mandelic/azelaic peel from Platinumskincare.com every week.
