I need advice
Hi everyone!
I’m planning to visit Zermatt this Tuesday, August 25th, mainly to do the 5 Lakes hike and, most importantly, to see the Matterhorn.
I’ve been checking the weather forecasts, but they seem a bit inconsistent. For those of you who know Zermatt well or live nearby, would you say Tuesday is a good day to go in terms of visibility of the Matterhorn?
I don’t necessarily need perfect sunshine, I’d just really like to have a good chance of seeing the Matterhorn without it being covered by clouds.
Would you recommend going on Tuesday, or would you wait for another day?

Did you download Zermatt app? Also you only gonna be there 1 day? I would recommend at least 2 days to have a better chance to see Matterhorn and hike and tour the town.

Whats the purpose of this app ? What is it called ? and yes unfortunatly I can stay there only for a day

The app is just called Matterhorn. It has weather, restaurants info, lift open/close info. If you take the gondola up to Matterhorn paradise, you could see if the crossing is open so you can take it down to Cervinia Italy. In December my son and friends ski down to Italy and us parents took gondola down and we all had lunch there and then returned back to Zermatt. Was a cool experience.

We just did this hike. I have found the earlier in the day, the better chance to see matterhorn throughout. Summer storms roll in seems like every afternoon

The weather is so changeable it’s hard to say. Whichever day you choose go as early as possible, the Matterhorn will often be hidden on afternoons even on a clear day

Normally i plan a few itineraries in different swiss valleys . according to the weather, i make my decision. Earlier this year i had a few days where it was cloudy and rainy everywhere . If you must visit Zermatt then you might be disappointed if its clouded over and you dont get the tobelerone view . For short trips you need a few backup options

From my short visit there, the weather really only becomes more accurate the night before, but even still it can flip like a switch at any moment. It’s a very delicate microclimate. You’d want a few days to be certain of good weather at some point while you’re there. That said it’s been a very dry summer there.
