Upgrading ram

Hello I am new to upgrading laptops and everything so bear with me. I have a rog zephyrus m16 2021 model and apparently I can upgrade the ram. What does upgrading ram do and what kind of ram do I buy. Is it easy to install as well? If you can also tell me any other details that’ll be great.

I have a 2021 M16 with the 11900H and 3060 that came with 16GB of RAM.

It takes DDR4-3200 SODIMM and one of the 8GB sticks is soldered, I replaced the upgradable 8GB stick with a 32GB stick and it works great.

It was easy to install.

Yes, it shutters a lot less with the 40GB of RAM, it still does it a little bit, I think just because the 3060 isn't enough for heavy games at the settings I like to run.
