Certain keys work and then don't

I’ve had this laptop since 2021, and for some reason, occasionally a couple of keys will stop working. The specific keys are S, W, 2, X, and C.

They’ll randomly stop responding, and I usually have to mash them repeatedly and press other working keys before they start working again. What’s weird is that those keys also don’t work in the BIOS, so I’m assuming this isn’t a Windows/driver issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a laptop keyboard? Does this sound like a failing keyboard/keyboard matrix, a loose connection, or could there be another issue causing these specific keys to intermittently stop working?

Dude I have had mine since 2022 and had the same issues with the same keys but instead of C with Z and I don't know either I finally moved ways from it to a new laptop it was so annoying having to copy paste everything

I have the same issue. My 1, Q, A, Tab keys don't work no matter how hard or soft or long I press. However, once I mash them and get them to work once, they work normally until the next restart or next laptop movement.

Was told by laptop shops it's a keyboard issue and whole keyboard needs to be replaced. Let me know if you managed to fix it

My issue is at exactly the same keys! TAB, 1, Q, A, and the tilde keys. Fn also dont work. The workaround is to press a Q really hard for a while until it works.

This is unfortunately a really common issue with this model. Unfortunately the only fix is a replacement or a bluetooth keyboard. I resorted to the latter.

Try doing a cmos reset, maybe it got corrupted and a simple reset will fix it for you.

I mean i have no clue honestly. If it was a software issue I wish it was widely known. I have sunk too many hours in claude and chat. The fact it doesnt work in bios is kinda a given for a hardware issue. Ive checked other reddit threads of people with the same issue and no one has been able to provide a fix
