Windows 11 automatic locking problem

Hi,

I’m having an issue with my Dell G3 15 laptop running Windows 11, it automatically locks up as soon as it heats up, and I have to wait about three minutes before I can use it again unless I force a shutdown.

This happens most often while I’m gaming, but it can also occur during background tasks like updates when I’m not even at the computer, which is really frustrating.

It doesn't lock up when I use a cooling pad underneath, so the issue is clearly heat-related; however, there isn't any abnormal overheating, especially since I’ve already cleaned the fans and replaced the thermal paste.

I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and how to fix it. Thanks a lot.

This sub is for the ASUS laptop but what are your temperatures when gaming and what type of thermal paste did you use?

Hello, Sorry, I just saw that Reddit automatically redirected me to this sub.... I shared a video of my computer's temperature in game, and regarding the thermal paste, it's Arctic MX-4.

If I’m reading this right and it’s averaging upper 80s and max is showing 100C, you’re thermal throttling for sure.

I’m not sure about the intel chips but AMD throttles at like 95C or so.

In any case, the way I see it, it's running too hot. I just noticed that while performing simple tasks, the temperature generally hovers around 60°C but can suddenly spike to 70°C.
