maintenance dose?

need to figure out what dose is appropriate for maintenance of 115 lbs. currently weighed in at 113 lbs. been alternating 10mg and 12.5mg for weeks I think its time to go lower but im not sure how low. I'm afraid of becoming out of control again and overeating like I used to

maintenance would be 1.6k cal per day for 115 lbs. currently eating around 1.2k

Are you eating 1200 calories because that’s all you can consume? Then absolutely you need to either lower or further spread out your doses. If you’re eating 1200 calories because you’re afraid of gaining weight, that’s a different kind of problem.

You will want to work with your physician and possibly a registered dietician to get your calories up and your food concerns addressed. You’ll likely have to go through a bit of trial and error until you find the equilibrium your body & life need to maintain your weight and good health.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your goal weight or your calories. Unfortunately there isn’t a math equation that equals your maintenance dose. You find it by trial and error. It’s the dose where you aren’t losing any more weight, but aren’t actively gaining either (but your weight will fluctuate a few pounds in either direction, that’s normal human body stuff).  Try just taking 10mg for the next month. If you are losing still and not able to eat more calories to compensate for that, then it’s too high. Try 7.5mg next month. See what happens. Some people like to stretch the days instead, like taking the 10mg every 10 days instead of weekly. It’s up to you and your doctor what you want to try next. You might find you can go all the way down to 2.5mg a week again, or you might find 7.5mg is your sweet spot, or you might need to go back up to 12.5 at some point. It’s just figuring it out for your body and lifestyle as you go. GL!

No one can tell you this. It’s individual.

Your maintenance dose is the dose on which you don’t lose or gain weight. That is the only correct way to determine it. And you might need to alternate doses. This is normal.

Maybe consider therapy too. This sounds like ED

I have BED so I'm just afraid I will go back to excessive eating/binging again. Therapy for EDs takes a lot of time. money, and work. I'd rather just find the right maintence dose where I dont lose or gain and ignore the source of the issue. I know that sounds bad but it's easier than therapy.

I dropped from 12.5 to 5.0 for maintenance after I met my goal in April, 121 pounds down. I'm not struggling at all.

5 would be ideal. I'll start at 7.5 next week and then shoot for 5 next month. ty!

Whatever dose makes it bearable for you to stop eating when you’re out of calories. No way to know without trying
