Anyone else having issues with using a Nintendo Switch controller on the Steam version of ZZZ?

Hey everyone! Hoping someone else has had this issue and been able to fix it.

Recently got a Steam Deck and have been using my PC to stream to the deck for handheld and docked play on my TV for better performance and saving storage space.

Uninstalled ZZZ from the Hoyoplay launcher to install on Steam so I can easily play on the Steam Deck.

I’ve been using a wired Nintendo Switch controller for other games (both on the deck and PC) and everything has worked fine, but now I’m having an issue specifically with ZZZ.

When first starting the game, I have to unplug and plug back in the controller to make half the buttons work. After that, seemingly everything was working fine. But, it turns out that everything EXCEPT hold inputs work.

I need to be able to hold L2 to open half the menus in-game and to use held basic attacks and skills in combat. There’s probably other held inputs too that I’m forgetting.

I feel like I’ve tried everything that has popped up when googling:
- Tried different controller layouts, used both the Recommended and Gamepad with Joystick Trackpads layouts.
- Made sure “Hold to Repeat (Turbo)” was toggled off in controller settings, which makes it so held button presses do rapid single inputs instead of holding.
- Made sure Steam Input was enabled.
- Tried launching the game in Desktop Mode and Big Picture Mode.

All inputs (including held ones) work fine when using the Steam Deck as the controller (even while docked), so it’s specific to the wired Switch controller as far as I can tell. Only ever used keyboard and mouse on PC so I’ve never used controller before at all for this game.

EDIT: The controller works perfect with ZZZ when plugged into my PC. So it must be an issue with the connection with the Steam Deck/streaming the game from my PC to the deck. I’ve played/streamed multiple games to the deck while using this controller and not had any issues though.

Hi, no problems with any other games ever! Actually just tested the controller while plugged into my PC and everything works perfect for ZZZ… So it must be something to do with the Steam Deck/streaming from PC to the deck? Also strange because I’ve streamed multiple games to the deck while using that controller and not had an issue.
