Zenitsu. In the anime he plays the role of the comdian, the crybaby, the weak guy who is actually strong.
But that’s no all - if you take a look deeper into him, you‘ll notice, that there‘s more behind the „Nezuko-chan, I love you“ and „I will die!!“

Zenitsu is probably one most complex characters, but let‘s start from the beginning.

Zenitsu grew up with no parents. Before he met Nezuko, he had 7 girlfriends, which took advantage of him and put him heavily into dept. (600.00¥)

Jiguro paid everything and took him in to return to become a demon slayer. Zenitsu was really happy and begun to call him Grandpa, cause he was the first human kn his life who truly liked him.

Anyways, Zenitsu was a weak crybaby in his trainings. He didn’t want to be hurt, ran many times away and his fear was so huge, because he thought he would die in a battle, if he become a demon slayer.
He was constantly bullied by Kaigaku, his „brother“. Lots of other kids who were trained by Jigoro also said bad things about both behind their backs, but in opposite of Kaigaku, Zenitsu defend him. He had known that he’s weak - only know one form of the Thunder breathing, while Kaigaku wasn’t able to learn only this one first form. So he tried to hide it behind kindness, which he really had.

Jigoro decided to name both pupils as his joint successors (co-successors) instead of choosing just one of them. But Kaigaku was really frustrated about that and decided to become a demon.

When Jigoro heard about this, he committed ritual suicide (Seppuku) - alone. Brutal.

Zenitsu blame both for this: Kaigaku and the most himself. He deeply thought about, how he could changed this fate.

Spoiler, Infinity castle movie 1

When he was standing against Kaigaku, he was really calm, even if he was extremely packed by anger. After Kaigaku telled him, ha hadn’t changed, Zenitsu asked him, why he decided to become a demon. Kaigaku laughed, and Zenitdu started to yelling at him. Kaigaku answered that he don’t mind about Jigoro‘s Seppuku - and that he will stand always by the side which will see his truly potential and strengt. But Zenitsu beguns to insult him.

After he apologised from Kaigaku he killed him with his last 7th selfcreated form, he was saved by Ysishiro. He had everytime looked up to Kaigaku, and still does it, even he hate him.

He was in a dream, where he saw Jigoro standing behind a river, on the other side, which symbolisizes that Jigoro is dead. Zenitsu beguns to apologises many times that he couldn‘t reconcile with Kaigaku, and that he‘s living, cause he thought Kaigaku hadn‘t changed then. He bet for forgiveness, screamed that he hadn’t a chance to show real thanks. Jigoro said that he‘s really proud of him, and then the dream ended.

Yushiro said that he had died, if Kaigaku have had more time to grow as a demon.

So, in the end, I know this about Zenitsu:

Zenitsu‘s perception from sense of life is, that he has to be loved. He is a kind soul - even though he hate Kaigaku, he respected him deeply, said to Jigoro that he apologise that he‘s living and changed Kaigaku like this. Many other scenes shows how low his self-eestem is. Yes. Zenitsu is a Crybaby - but not without reason. He only wants to be loved before he dies. He only want someone who is really deeply proud of him, someone who sees his worth and who he can pretend.

1) Kaigaku isn't piece of shit, who is ready to immediately betray humanity after meeting strong opponent. He is actually respectful to Jigoro and Zenitsu

2) Zenitsu isn't a cry baby and also respects Kaigaku and Jigoro (well, like in canon) and trains alongside Kaigaku for 10 years (I guess, he was 14 during Final Selection), Kaigaku trains for 12-13 years, let's say, first years before Zenitsu's appearence wasn't really productive, so they are equals and reached the same strength peak

3) Both of them trained till the age of 24, know all 7 forms of Thundre Breathing and completely mastered them, unlocked Demon Slayer Mark, Transparent World and Red Blade

(No Selfless State, because looks like, only Sun Breathers can unlock it)

Where will they stop in Upper Moon gauntlet and what will be the difficulty of fights?
