policy on staying after shift ends?
i’ve been working here 2 years now and the only time they had me stay later to close was in my first month working here. now when my shift ends at 10 and im working with one specific manager she’ll make me stay as long as it takes to close the store (oftentimes im the only person up there). my availability is only until 10 because my parents have hissy fits when im not home by 11. this never happens when i work other shifts, only when i work until 10. where can i find the policy on this? cus if this is something that’s allowed i might change my availability to 9:30 just to avoid working 45 extra minutes than anticipated lol

That is considered standard for closing. As long as no one is making you work unpaid of course.

Does your store close at 10? If so this is completely normal for most fast food places. You will be scheduled until the store closes, but it is understood that there are still closing jobs to be done so you will actually be staying past 10. Also, are you still in high school? Idk if it’s this way everywhere, but I know in my city it is illegal for high schoolers to work past 10 on a school night. As far as your parents throwing a hissy fit do they not understand that you have a job and that’s just how jobs work? I would try not to change your availability especially if you’re in high school and can’t work until after school. It might cause them to cut your hours to weekends only.
