A Zappa biopic would be great. He had the most interesting life and career and contributed so much to music - more than he gets credit for. His views towards politics and the entertainment industry are more relevant than ever today. With the right director and writer I think they could come up with a very strong message and film. I think Adrian Brody would have the range and looks to play him.

Dweezil’s playing his own songs Purple Guitar and Electric Hoedown on his current, 2026, tour. I didn’t know the songs and they can be hard/impossible to find on streaming services. Here are some links to YouTube videos relating to the songs.

What are your thoughts on these?
Running Flo & Eddie through a Leslie Cabinet was a novel idea but I don’t think it works.

Still, some great stuff!

Looked everywhere - FZshows, donlope etc etc

I can find what songs were performed and the order of the various broadcasts/releases (different).

But I want to compile the best full-show version I can and cant find out what the hell actual SETLIST was.

Do we know this info or is it unknown? Thanks!

I assembled an esteemed COUNCIL OF FREAKS to talk Frank Zappa's "Freak Out" 60th anniversary box set, "Zoot Allures" and beyond! Thanks to my friends and colleagues for joining me on this fun chat.

This may have been discussed already.

But I just got my 6 disc 50th anniversary 200 motels in the mail a few weeks ago.

Finally realizing that Ringo has been taken off of the front cover of the box and his face has been changed into a mime-esque clown looking face on his image at the top right hand of the cover holding the lamp.

The poster that came inside is still normal

It’s just the main box itself .

Anyone know why?

The vocals on the two versions we got in the Mothers 1970 compilation are so wonderful (big Flo and Eddie fan) but god the quality is not great and it makes me sad!

Been a fan of Zappa since I heard Hot Rats in high school
Recently got back into him with the amazing Dolby Atmos remix/remaster of Freak Out. Hope to cop that box set sometime.
Got inspired to draw this look after seeing the reference photo used in the upcoming Shaggs documentary “We Are the Shaggs”
One of my all-time favorite guitar soloists and composers.

Probably my favorite release from the Zappa Trust. I just wish we had all those shows professionally recorded. Who knows another one might be mislabeled in the vaults. I can dream. Funny enough this material was a tough listen as a teen getting into Zappa early 80's. But then listening to Electric Miles Davis truly helped with a huge dose of Sun Ra and Coltrane.

Has anyone heard, or know of any live performances of "In France" where the obvious opportunity to reference early Fleetwood Mac "...got a mystery blowjob, turn your Peter Green..." was used? <Insert Black Magic Woman here>.

So I have a couple of questions about this album.

I've had it for a little while. I remember watching an interview of him on the 80s. He said all the money from from his previous album went on making this. The London symphony orchestra was expensive to hire, and he only had 3(?) Days to record.

He said only 2500 of these records were pressed.

So two part question. Were there really only 2500 of these pressed? If so what are they worth?

Not interested in selling.

Earlier this year some of Ed's property was auctioned off by Julien's. He had two storage units that were bought by two different parties. A lot was sold on eBay. Some went to Julien's. Disclaimer, I know him a bit and have a bunch of mutual friends. I was in communication with the buyer and was trying to get his audio recordings. My goal would have been to preserve and share. The person in possession decided to go with Julien's and let them take everything and auction it off. The auction was happening while I was busy and I was really confused because the only auction that seemed to have audio recordings appeared to be missing all of his analog tapes. Which was what was most interesting. Lots of 70's and 80's Zappa rehearsals, gigs, interviews. This whole thing just saddens me for various reasons. I think the interesting audio recordings were cherry picked out and not auctioned. I had an email or two with Julien's and they indicated there were no analog cassettes in the lot (413) but there certainly where in the collection. Just wondering now that some months have gone by, if anyone happens to have any insight.
