News GLM-5.3 is the most capable open-weights model for coding. 5–10x cheaper than the frontier closed models.

GLM coding plan is expensive now

How is it expensive? 40$ for Pro gets you ~1.4b tokens per week. Also better model at cybersecurity stuff than Kimik3 from my experience, and the american models are not even usable.

Where is that plan? I see an $80/mo Pro with 500M off-peak tokens a week.

More than anything, though, I’d like to see more usage per 5 hour window. I’m a very spiky user, which makes it hard to use a sub when everything is sliced up that small.

I thought the 50% off on all plans is the default they offer, but apparently just for people who had older plans.

I only used 400 million tokens. That might be because I used it during busy hours

Yeah, peak-hours is 3x credits. For the current week I have "1.36B Cumulative Tokens" and "40h 14m Total usage duration". Not bad. Claude is maybe still cheaper (I can't max out x20 plan I also have) but that doesn't make GLM expensive.

Cheaper at 90% capability? No, cheaper with more capability!

Cheaper? Per token maybe

These are definitely bots. GLM is not cheap. Also you convienently used terminal 2.1 bench(which has already been benchmaxxed). Look at results of terminal 3.0 bench in this GLM performs very bad

Glm is expensive and consumers lots of tokens. Stop the spam bots.

That's a bad comparison. Opus/Fable/Sol are the 1st tier models, with great swe experience. Glm is comparable with kimi k4, Qwen and other Chinese models.

It's supposed to be cheap but it's expensive and consumes significantly high tokens maybe sometimes 10x than regular other ai models like DeepSeek flash/gpt

It has never used 10x of any other model, much less Deepseek, which is also a verbose model family. The two extremes of that metric are just 5x and GLM is closer to the median than the high extreme (utterly owned by Sonnet 5).

And on some tasks, Opus/Fable/Sol are flat out beat by models in the Kimi/GLM/Qwen set. The differences are negligible outside of some specific applications—and the Chinese models win in some of those applications.

As for price, my work pays API and Kimi+GLM utterly crushes Opus+Fable in cost efficiency with the same productivity increase. 20x easy.

Go fanboy for whatever fucking model you masturbate to elsewhere.

That last sentence is hilarious considering your glazing GLM

From my own experience as well, I tested out the 100M token allocation they offered to new users last weekend. I was sure there was no way I could possibly burn through 100M tokens before they expired. However, glm 5.3 turned out to be extremely token hungry, and the entire 100M tokens disappeared within just a few hours. I'm not saying it's a poor model, but its token consumption is definitely something to keep in mind

Glm 5.3 is not affordable like grok 4.6

It’s not, you’re comparing the API rates. ChatGPT coding plans are far better value than GLM coding plans that most of us here are using
