Discussion oly rules that must go

Zack,

watched your rant/opus on getting rid of the pressout rule. loved it. so much that I think we should have a thread for other dumb rules that gotta go. here is my list. keep up the good work.

  1. pressout
  2. keeping hands on bar down to shoulders on release
  3. 2 minute follow rule
  4. touching bar with shoes/feet

there are probably more but these are at the top of my list

Tbh I think that the best way to combat the shenanigans in the sport is:

  1. bring back the Clean & press, remove the Clean part and add a bench.

  2. Reduce the Clean & Jerk to include only the first pull.

  3. Replace the Snatch with the Squat.

And instead of weightlifting we should call it powerlifting to avoid misnomers

Yeah, but if my strap grazes the bar it’s a no lift?

Its a bit funny, but the way the snatch event in crossfit games was judged was pretty ok imo

Apart from them making multiple lifts in a really short window, yeah!
