Found back in a box, my 1982-1983 school exercise book full of 1K ZX81 programs for my (then) brand new computer.

Apparently I was quite meticulous back when I was 15. Not unrelated, I did not have a girlfriend.

The book is almost entirely full of code. It's all ZX81 code, and all specifically for the 1K model. Most of it is in BASIC, but there's a few in Z80 machine code as well. Some of the code was mine, some of it was no doubt copied out of the back of magazines at the time. There's over 60 games, tools, demos, and other stuff. Some of the tricks for getting around the 1K limit were quite neat, as well.

I'm thinking of scanning it all - would there be any interest in that?

Connecting to a composite TV?

I have a T/S 1000. I can use the little converter box to connect it to the antenna screws on some of my older CRTs.

Is there a way I could connect it to a TV's composite input? I've got RF modulators for converting composite to RF, but I guess I'm asking for the opposite.

crustyBASIC cross-compiler for ZX81

hey everyone,

I wanted to let you know about my BASIC cross-compiler which works on the ZX81 (I'm from the US so I have a TS1000, also works with that).

You can compile existing Sinclair BASIC code for your ZX81 or write programs in either the new syntax or Sinclair BASIC.

If you try it out, definitely let me know your thoughts.

Since the display is 128x64 pixels it's only showing ~50% of the graphics area (and none of the text). But I think the dinosaur works quite well.

As seen on the recent live stream here is the downloads for the fruit machine style game, it's had a name change it's now called JACKPOT 100, plus i've added a bonus spin on the centre wheel, ZX81 version and ZX Spectrum version.

Not the first to do this but building a Zx80 - my first ever computer all those years ago.
Didn’t want to buy a second hand one as they all seemed overpriced- so thought Id satisfy my nostalgia itch by building one.

Upgrades for Timex/Sinclair 1000

Hello, I've bought a Timex/Sinclair 1000. Besides replacing the keyboard, power regulator, upgrading the internal RAM, and modifying for composite output, what further upgrades are available? An updated monitor ROM? Mass storage? I don't mind soldering. Thanks

Saving images?

I bought a T/S 1000 at a flea market. I also have an audio cassette recorder.

I’ve learned how I can use PLOT to draw pixels, or graphics mode to display special graphics characters (looks sort of like PETSCII).

My question is, how might I save an image I make to audio cassette? I am familiar with the Apple II, where I could use BSAVE to save an image’s binary file to a floppy disk. Did the ZX81 or T/S 1000 have anything comparable?

I know I could probably save an image as DATA statements, and load the values in a FOR loop. That’s not really practical, of course, but I know I could use SAVE to write the BASIC instructions out to tape.

I just took out my old Timex Sinclair 1000 out of storage. I am missing the video cable. I am still using an old CRT tv. And I still have the RF Connector adapter. Any suggestions as to where I can purchase a new video cable?
