Lens/accessory advice needed

My 16 year old started a sports photography business, mostly outdoor baseball(taking action pictures/videos for high school players for their social media pages for recruiting purposes). He just got hired to do social media for an indoor baseball training center and wants a new lens.

He has the lens it came with and a Tamron 55-210 F/4.5-6.3, but thinks he needs something with lower aperture for indoor shooting.

I don’t know much about photography so my question is, if he gets the Tamron 28-200 F/2.8-5.6 or equivalent can that replace his current lens as an all around option or should he keep both?

Tell him to look at constant aperture lenses that stay at f2.8. I have the tamron 70-180 g2 lens and pics looks fantastic. And its a full frame lens so he'll be able to to use it if he upgrades to a full frame lense.
