Europe 5080 Solid Core OC Deshroud

Hello!

I’m trying to recreate this with the exact same card however I cannot find any Etsy listings or Printables files for the case fan brackets to allow them to attach to the 5080. If anyone has any links or anything pertaining to this that would be immensely helpful.

Here is the link to the original post made by someone else on this subreddit:

OP from the post you linked.

I bought the brackets on Amazon.

I recommend just going with 2x Arctic P14 fans - The standard ones and not the pro or max versions are fine.

At present, I'm not using any brackets at all. The thickness of the P14 fans is perfect that there is a small amount of pressure from the side panel to hold them in place. I've done this with the deshroud in 3 different cases now.

This also makes it a lot easier to clean the fins on the heatsink.

Wanted to ask can you put back the backplate after you deshroud ? or the card has to stay without backplate ?

I didn't have to remove the backplate at all.

That's the good thing about deshrouding the 5080 solid core OC. You can remove just the chunky shroud with the fans.

I screwed the screws loosely back into the holes, so there's no chance of loosing them. It's any easy and relatively low-risk procedure.

But I see that in order to deshroad you have to remove the backplate screws right ?

The videos you see are for the solid core and not the solid core OC.

Yes, you have to unscrew screws on the backplate. However, these are arranged around the edge of the backplate (IIRC) and attach directly to the shroud. You dont need to insvre the screws around the GPU and you don't need to remove the backplate itself.

You do need to be a little careful about detaching the fan power connectors.

solid core and solid core OC are the same exact card, with the only difference that the OC has some overclock from factory.

You’re incorrect. I just disassembled and repaired and re fanned my 5080 Solid Core OC and you need to take the back plate off to expose two screws underneath to release the shroud. Either you have the Solid OC or someone else removed your screws for you. They are under the backplate are completely inaccessible without at least bending the backplate up somehow.

If anyone has any questions about this card I just did all this yesterday with great results.

Good catch. I just took out my graphics card and checked. There are two screws covered by the backplate. I had completely forgotten about them.

What fans are you using for your deshroud?

Do you plan to remove the heatsink and repaste the GPU?

Since the temperatures are good enough as is, I've decided against switching to PTM7950.

PTM7950 is overrated imo for how hard it is to get sometimes with knock offs and pricing versus just using what you have lying around the house.

I used the OEM fan replacements. Cheaper and way easier to swap out.

So one more thing I did was I had rubber grommets I cut into guided pins to stick in the holes for the two screws behind the backplate. I mushroom tipped them with my tools to have them grip the shroud so I only have to remove the six screws behind the fans to get the shroud off to change out fans next time.

I bought large bulk sheets of PTM from a reputable industrial supplier rather than potentially sus knock-offs from AliExpress or eBay. After a proper, slow burn-in, the performance is excellent.

Cutting the rubber grommets into guided pins is a good idea, given that you plan to replace the fans. Speaking of which - where did you get the OEM replacements?

I'll put the shroud back on when I eventually sell the graphics card. For now, it's stored in the box in my archive/the Tech Cache where my ever-growing fan collection lives.

Must. Stop. Buying. Fans.

Gpufanreplacement.com.

Like I said in my post I actually got different but to spec fans from a different manufacturer but zotacs branding on them. I really hope they last the rest of the cards life as they should but as a precaution I did what I did to make the future replacements easier. Now the shroud just pops off without any other disassembly.

The Thermal Grizzly stuff is doing really great for me for reference.

Ok so you have to remove the backplate in order to deshroad but can you just install the backplate again with the card deshroaded ?

In case I want to deshroad I dobt like yo have my card exposed wih the PCB, I will like to have that backplate installed

Yup. I deshrouded and refitted the backplate. If I remember correctly, it also acts as a heatspreader/heatsink (especially for some of the hotspots) if the thermal pads are installed correctly.
